| Agricultural Tax Relief
1. All Agricultural worlds would be given a 5% tax cut by the Empire for their continued support and supplying of Imperial worlds with much needed foodstuffs.
2. Outer Rim Agricultural worlds would be given assistance to boost their foodstuffs production
3. Agricultural worlds would be supplied with drought and flood resistance seeds to allow for larger production of foodstuffs.

| 1. Which taxes do you want to cut specifically? 5% of absolute tax or a 5% reduction on the rate paid? Where does the money for this come from?
2. What type of assistance? Why only Outer Rim Agriworlds?
3. How will this be paid for?

| I'd also like to see Senator Ordan's questions answered, but if it can be done with fiscal prudence I am in favour of a sensible level of subsidy for agriculture if it's required.

| I am not so hasty as to simply vote against, Senators. I am curious where the funds will come from, of course, but I can see myself supporting this measure, which is proposed in good faith and with a good mindset, once the aforementioned questions asked by Senator Ordan have been satisfactorily answered.

| The 5% tax cut would be from each Agriworlds yearly Taxes paid to the Empire, which the Imperial Taxation Bureau has the records for, which would allow the less fortunate Agriworlds to put more money back into their own world and into the pockets of their people to increase their workers quality of lives. I can understand that there will always be that one nagging worry about where the Credits are coming from to pay for these flood and drought resistance crops, with the bulk of it being from the credits that are returned to the world through the tax cut, as well as hoping that the more Industrial, Metropolis and Ecumenopolis worlds of the Galaxy would recognize the importance of these Agriworlds and donate credits to aid in the purchase of these crops.
The assistance that I was speaking of involves the funding for more effect farming tools, it is aimed specifically at the Outer Rim Agriworlds due to their less fortunate status and more difficult times they have when it comes to credits. While many of the Agriworlds from the Core to the Mid Rim have more funds, many of the Agriworlds, take for example Dantooine could use the boost in assistance with the funding of and shipment to, of top of the line farming implements, tools, vehicles, crops, that would allow them to double even triple the outcome that they are now seeing in their production of food stuffs.
In the spirit of aid, the planet of Hemei IV has also set aside a large shipment of plows, tractors and other hand tools to be shipped not only to Dantooine, but to various other Agriworlds as well in the Outer Rim at no cost to the planets.

| To be fully honest, this bill does not directly influence Druckenwell in a positive or negative manner, however, I can safely say it's not Druckenwell's job to donate money for agricultural worlds to aid in the purchasing of crops. At this time, while Druckenwell may be willing to ships such farm implements at no cost to the planet and whatnot, we are going to abstain from the vote until further deliberation occurs.

| I do not dispute that this may be written with good intentions. I do not dispute that it may be a nice idea to help people if it's affordable.
I oppose this bill because Senator Abram is handing out cash to these farmers without ever saying where it comes from. I also oppose the fact it's Outer Rim centrist nature, seeking to "redress balance" by robbing the "rich". This robs the Core, Colonies, Inner Rim, Expansion Region and Mid Rim of useful funds (if we were going to designate them). So far as I am personally aware, Agri-Worlds are often the most profitable worlds in the Outer Rim, Dantooine is hardly a poor world, the last time I visited the locals seemed to be of a wide girth and a jovial spirit, it's hardy and hale farmers operating modern equipment on their wide and productive acres.
Some agri-worlds in the Core may be poor, some in the Rim Rich, Agriculture is dependent on local conditions (as you point out, flood or drought for example) and instead of an arbitrary and blanket subsidy, why not give subsidies out where they are needed? Why not have a selective mechanism to aid those who truly need it instead of just because they are Outer Rim worlds?
Also, if we are to subsidize agriculture, why not subsidize the farmers themselves, giving them a tax rebate on their own Tax rather than handing the money to notoriously corrupt Rimward Government?
Should subsidies not address efficiency? Why subsidize in-efficient farming? Why subsidize those who are not making the effort to modernize and increase productivity?
One must wonder if the Senator of Dantooine agrees his world is "agriculturally primitive", and does he think that his people would take kindly to "city slicker" Core worlders characterizing his people as in need of "aid".
For all these reasons, at this time, I vote against an indiscriminate handout to Outer Rim Agriworlds.

| Would Vjun's production of Acid Beets qualify us for subsidy? All our products are based on agriculture (spinning and weaving fibres and raw crops of Beets), so are we an "agriworld"?

| While Dantooine would support a bill that gives worlds such as mine a tax relief, we cannot in good faith accept it due to the fact that it would disrupt the balance that we have seemed to achieve. As the good Senator from Anaxes has stated, Dantooine by far is not a poor world. The planet strives with pride and confidence, and we have been lucky thus far to not suffer a loss of crop or some sort of mishap that would strike our economy. Plus, as the Senator from Vjun has asked, what makes a work an agriworld? Does a planet have to produce something specific to receive this? If that were the case, then every planet in the galaxy could collect from this because we all have something special that we produce, regardless of what it is. Plus, if Dantooine were to suffer for whatever reason, we believe that there would be emergency relief already in place to assist us.
Though, it has been brought to my attention that the Chamber of Commerce wish to express their message, and I will gladly pass it along:
"The People of Dantooine strongly object to the characterization of their world as primitive of in poverty. Dantooine is a modern agriworld which is profitable and produces a significant surplus for worlds across the Galaxy. We also object to the idea that the machinery we use is out of date. Although we do welcome gifts which are freely given without obligation and thank Senator Abram for his kind donation. We express our support for the idea of agricultural subsidy in general, we wish to see it reward hard working worlds such as ours over lazy offworlders who ain't done a proper days work in their life."
However at this time, Dantooine must abstain from this vote.

| Garos IV votes in favor of this motion. Many of these planets export their crops to other worlds within the empire, like the Imperial Center, so their people can eat. I see no reason why not to give the poor farmers of the galaxy a break, after all they feed us all.

| Senator Cerra, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever had the distinct misfortune to have heard. At no point in your rambling incoherent response were you close to anything which could be considered a rational response to any of the debate raised. Everyone in this room is more stupid having heard it.
You've not listened to the fact this won't boost the farmers who are actually in need, it just hands out money indiscriminately to the Outer Rim, regardless of efficiency, ignoring the many who might be in need in other regions. Her words are not underpinned by any thought of fiscal prudence or wisdom. Frankly, I am not surprised such a bacchantine jaded trollop was the one to interject this comment.
Even by her own, notoriously low intellectual standards this is truly some form of ultimate intellectual poxed buboe by it's sheer mindlessly platitudinarian nature. Were I to drink a bottle of Dantooinian Rye Whiskey, and then inject a copious dose of hallucinogens, even then I know that I would come up with a more coherent response than hers. I wonder, I truly wonder if you understand the monolithic nature of your stupidity, alack and alas, I left my crayons in my smoking jacket and so will unlikely be able to articulate my dismay in a format which might be understood by one so cretinous as yourself. I am fortunate that I do not agree with you, or we would both be wrong.
In all the many eras of history, intellectual giants have elevated the race at every turn. I wonder if it's possible that with every action having an equal and opposite reaction if this is the backlash of the invention of the hyperdrive? I suppose Garos IV must be a land of the witless, if they truly think it is prudent to have one who expresses such half witted banality in the Chamber of the Galactic Senate, the Queen of the witless being a half-wit is I suppose a logical conclusion.
Gentlemen, I have little more time for the distasteful presence of Senator Cerra, who delights on turning up to vote every few months (and does little else), and so will retire the floor to allow others to speak their pieces. I leave you with a request to the chair to strip Senator Cerra's vote from the record on the grounds it simply repeats senselessly (and characteristically) trite prosaicism in lieu of participating in or even reading the transcript of the Debate so far.

| Sluis Van approves as well, pending agreement from the honorable Senator Ray. It strikes us as a rather decent idea, if not well thought out enough. A few modifications of the bill and it would be much improved.

| So your people, Senator Domon, want to give money to farmers whether they need it or not, just because they come from the Outer Rim?

| If you'll note, Senator Ordan, we only approve pending Senator Ray's approval of this bill. He does, after all, represent an agricultural world. And, as I stated, the bill needs modification, Senator.
