"Congratulations, Sir Reuke," said a familiar voice—one that Cambrist had heard many times in the Senate. "I just heard of your appointment."

The stylus in Cambrist's hand went still over his datapad as he glanced up from it to regard the man who now stood over his table. The Senator's brow was furrowed as though he had just smelled something that offended him. It was an expression that he wore frequently enough that one commentator for TriNebulon News had once suggested that it was his career he was smelling. Cambrist had later sent the man a note congratulating him for the quip. His expression softened somewhat, however, when he recognized the man. Dark complexioned, dark haired, possessing a regal air and clothed in the stately blue of Alderaan's ruling house. "Senator Organa," Cambrist said to him in greeting. "I thank you."

Cambrist had a certain respect for Bail Organa; namely because he, too, was a man of noble blood, and there had always been a sort of unspoken fraternity among nobles of the Core Worlds. He certainly didn't respect the man for his politics, however—Organa, and his colleagues, Senator Mothma and Senator Bel Iblis, had become increasingly quarrelsome with the Empire in recent months. It was foolish of them, and, as the recent debacle with Senator Mothma had shown, it was destructive to their careers. Cambrist wanted no part of it. He also tended to disagree with Organa on policy, and it was unusual for him to approach Cambrist in this way. Unless, Cambrist thought tiredly to himself, Organa wanted something.

He wouldn't be surprised, for today it had been announced that Cambrist had been appointed to chair the immensely influential Commerce Committee, which was responsible for regulating interstellar trade throughout the Empire. Cambrist had lobbied for the position for months and been a loud supporter of Palpatine's trade and taxation policies. His appointment, thus, had been considered something of a foregone conclusion, and now that he had it he had become one of the most powerful men in the Senate—more powerful, even, than some of the Viziers. Cambrist had come here, to the commons dining area, to escape the parade of Senators who had come to him all morning asking for favors. Even Senator Binks, that moron, had congratulated him. Here, at least, Cambrist could have a glass of wine and gather his thoughts in peace. Or so he thought.

"What are you writing, if I may ask?" Organa did, indeed, ask.

"It's private," Cambrist said brusquely, his brow furrowing again. He seemed immediately to regret his tone, however. Cambrist was an able man, but not a social one. The wine certainly helped, however. "It's my journal," he explained, apologetically, "I find it useful to gather my thoughts on politics, philosophy, and so on. I suppose I will give it to my nephew one day."

"I certainly respect your privacy," Organa said, politely. The Senator clasped his hands behind his back and glanced thoughtfully out the viewport at Coruscant, now called Imperial Center, outside. "Although," he added, "it seems the Empire does not respect privacy as much as it once did, and as much as we might like."

Cambrist narrowed his eyes. We? he thought, What is he getting at? "This is a dangerous time," Cambrist said, tentatively, "The Empire has many enemies—insurgents, Separatists, Jedi. These are enemies that would do away with far more than our privacy, if they had their way. I would rather the Empire do what it must to defeat them than not."

"Are you and your nephew counted among those enemies?" Organa asked.

"I have nothing to hide, Senator," Cambrist rejoined him, acidly. "I do not entertain seditious notions."

"Of course not," Organa hastened to add, with a feigned smile. "In fact," he said, "I consider myself more patriotic than most."

"I'm sure," Cambrist said, clearly not.

Organa smiled, and this time the expression seemed genuine. "I think we agree with each other more than you know," he said, "Perhaps you will see this in time. But for now," he bowed his head respectfully, "I will leave you to your thoughts."

Cambrist nodded in turn, and watched Organa contemplatively for a moment as he walked away from the table. "Senator," Cambrist called after him. The man stopped, and turned to regard him. "I am sorry about Mon Mothma," Cambrist said.

"Me too," he said, gravely. "Good day, Sir Reuke." He left the dining commons, and Cambrist returned to his datapad.

It had been a few years since Ja’nar had step foot on the planet of Coruscant, except now it was called something else, something that escaped her mind at this hour. Sure it was still mid-day on the planet but back home on Garos IV, it was the middle of the night. She already missed her bed, the familiarity of everyone around her. She was essentially alone on this planet like she had been in past visits.
Ja’nar, in the past had been a shining gem, she always seemed to sparkle. She had a mild temper and usually attempted to calm situations and bring everyone back to reason. Though there was something different about the young Queen and Senator on her return. She was quieter, a bit more withdrawn than her previous terms within the senate.
Ja’nar moved past Senator Organa, she would offer him a very small smile and a slight tip of her head as she moved into the commons dining area needing a small break from the stack of paperwork that had her name on it. It seemed that the previous senator for the planet did very little and perfered to invite entertains up to his office from the lower levels. She brought a delicate hand up to her face as she pushes a stray curl back away from her deep brown eyes. She tucked the stray strand behind her ear as she moves to a small table near the windows that looked out at the cityscape. She had noticed Cambrist, but did not say a word to him, though she had offered him a small kind smile and a nod of the head before a serving droid came her way. She ordered a cup of hot chocolate, which was normal for her, and leaned back, closing her eyes for a moment attempting to just relax.

"Making friends so early in the day, Senator Cambrist?"

If Cambrist had thought to have more alone time to relax and write his memoirs, he was likely to be mistaken. Ryuun now stood just behind him, a glass of wine in his left hand and the right resting idly upon his hip as he raised said glass.

"Congratulations as well, Senator. It seems you are a fast-rising star in the galaxy. I wish you fortune and luck. You must be careful, of course..."

Ryuun's voice trailed off as he watched Organa's retreat. "Some people are... less likely to make good friends than others, you see. Either way, it is a pleasure to see you again as always."

Catching sight of Senator Cerra, he gave a friendly nod in greeting. It seemed as if the Senate was going to be exceptionally busy over the next few weeks with all the paperwork and new laws coming out. It was sure to be quite interesting, to say the least.

The esteemed Lord Titus Veritas carried himself as if he could swing a planet up against the sides of his opponent's heads. It was rather well deserved and many considered him the "Lion of the Senate". He was something of a legend in the Senate, for he started to serve as Senator of Deralia and the Tammuz Sector forty years ago. For five years before that, he served as Representative of Deralia under Senator Zia Jau of Tammuz-an in the Tammuz Sector delegation. Before his rise to politics, he served as Captain of the Team Deralia limmie team, which the year before his rise into politics stunned the galaxy by winning the Galactic Cup as well as the gold medal in the limmie event at the Galactic Games. In those Games, he was also the gold medalist in the mixed martial arts event. While his athletic accomplishments gave him fame, it was not why he was selected as the mere age of twenty to be Deralia's Representative. He was known to be very charismatic, and knowledgeable in diplomacy and politics.

When Palpatine became the Senator of Naboo and the Chommell Sector, he quickly befriended him. It was Palpatine's support that allowed him to oust Jau a mere five years after his ascension, becoming Senator of Deralia and the Tammuz Sector at the age of twenty-five, the youngest in the Sector's history and the first one from Deralia since the Great Galactic War. He was quickly known to join the Militarist faction of the Galactic Senate become one of its most vocal member, second only to Ranulph Tarkin. Tarkin became somewhat of a mentor to him, to the point that he joined his paramilitary force as an officer and was among those that fought at Mount Avos in the Stark Hyperspace War. He lost all respect for Tarkin after his display of utterly shattered morale and pride while they were holed up in Mount Avos, but once they made it out, he never talked ill of the man that was widely considered a hero of the Republic. He served as the new voice of the militarist faction following Tarkin's death, guiding them through the rough following years, until he was voted out of office due to dwindling public support in the Tammuz Sector for the militarist faction, which only had a strong base on Deralia. Instead, he spent several years working as a lobbyist for the Military Recreation Act, acting as Spokesman for the Stark Veteran Assembly, until stepping aside for the young and upcoming Laslo Doritis. While he did so, he watched as the more progressive Appia Aurelius, a fellow Deralian, worked as Senator on the side of the Core faction. He ended up joining the Judicial Forces, becoming an officer in the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars, serving as Captain of the Tranquility following the escape of Nute Gunray from it.

The Battle of Coruscant ended up ending his hopefully long career in the Navy, with injuries sustained in the battle leading to his discharge. It was fortunate that no less than a year later, Aurelius was stepping down as Senator to help her children raise their families. He was chosen as the temporary replacement, and so far winning two straight elections, with his third coming up in two years. He was widely respected as one of the authorities in the Senate concerning military issues, which was why he was quickly appointed upon his return to the Senate to Chair of the Defense Committee by his long time ally, now Emperor Palpatine. He ensured that if the Emperor wanted it done, it was done...and pushed for the expansion of the Imperial military. It was his staunch support of Palpatine and the Empire that made headlines, and closeness to the Throne. He often made himself visible when possible, and interacted with his fellow delegate as much possible, regardless of standing. It was, of course, the right thing to steer the blind in the right direction. This was why he was in the commons dining area. He often interacted with the other delegates here, usually having discussions with them over dinner. One day of every week, he would meet Senator North of Imperial Center for dinner. The plates had long been cleared, and the Senator was gone, but Veritas was still here, and enjoying his wine. He usually brought several bottles of Deralian wine for the Senate commons whenever he returned from his home, and did so this year too. He was however, enjoying not the wine of his homeland, but of their "cousins" so to speak. Mandalorian wine. Very strong and bitter, almost like an ale made of grapes, but he enjoyed it.

As he sat, he eyed Organa talk with Cambrist. He shook his head. The man was another traitor, just like Mothma... there just wasn't enough solid evidence yet. That was the emphasis...yet. He would slip up one day, and be outed as Mothma was. If it was one thing he had learned over the years was patience. It was one of the primary things that Palpatine taught to those that listened. That was lesson was no more evident then in his current position...and it was a lesson that he was learning. Through patience, he would be able to catch Organa... and he would personally watch his punishment. The man was a coward, refusing to protect the Republic when the Separatist threatened with war, and once they acted, looked for any excuse to stop fighting. He was a coward, and there was no place for cowards in the New Order. Once he was gone, he would rise, with a fresh glass of wine, and walk over to Senator Cambrist, taking the seat opposite to him. As he did so, he took note of Senator Ryuun, who was, rather creepily in his mind, standing over Cambrist's back. He knew little of the man, but was of the same age as he was when entering the Senate. His stances were unknown, and so he treated him as neutral. He largely disregarded Senator Cerra's entrance, unlike Ryuun.

"Excuse me, Senator Ryuun. Senator Cambrist, I apologize for the intrusion, but I must ask...what was it that Senator Organa said to you?" he asked, gazing into Cambrist's eyes. He hadn't talked to the young man much, but knew of his... ideals. While not from the Core, he was a fellow noble, and generally highly regarded individual. It would be interesting to see his reaction to his move. A gauging, as it were, of the young Senator.

After having to pledge the oath that Grand Vizier Pestage had required for him to do so, he has decided to come to the Senate Commons. Senator Fowlkes wanted to get to know the other Senators and Representatives, as he was very new to the Senate. Tremaine was born and grew up on Telos IV, everyone who knew him would know that his strongest areas were politics and history. However, his background check would contrast his expertise. He was in a local Youth Legislative Program located on his homeworld when the Clone Wars erupted at Battle of Geonosis, the news spread across the galaxy of this event. Tremaine left the Program to join the Telos Security Forces in hope of fighting alongside the Jedi Knights against the Separatists. Because he studies history, he developed a great respect for the Jedi. However, he had never stated this reason. Instead, he said that he was joining to aid the war efforts. He joined rather young, at age fifteen. In addition to his expertise in politics and history, he began to become an adept at shooting.

Because Telos IV played no strategic importance in the Clone Wars, he rarely saw action while the galaxy was raging in flame. Whenever he saw action, he fought alongside the clone troopers. He didn't see a single Jedi until the waning days of the Clone Wars. The frontline soldiers were needed in the Outer Rim Sieges, and not many ships were available. He was sent as a part of a small task force that were consisted of clones, Jedi Knights, and various planentary forces that were lended by planetary governments. In a skirmish in the Outer Rim against the Separatists, the Republic were gaining victory. All of sudden, he witnessed an event where the clones turned against a Jedi Padawan. That Padawan ended up dead, of course. He was filled with disgust at that moment, but also knew fully well he couldn't do anything until he gathers more information. It wasn't until he was recalled to Telos IV when he saw the HoloNet of Chancellor Palpatine declaring the Jedi Rebellion being foiled and that the New Order were to be put into place. The Galactic Republic had transformed into Galactic Empire. Because he was such a historian, he didn't believe the Jedi would attempt to overthrow the Republic and that the characteristics of the Empire resembled that of ancient Sith Empires.

Tremaine wanted to rebel against the New Order, but knew he wouldn't survive long if he did so. That was the moment he decided to return to the arena of politics. He had to look like he was in full support of the New Order. The man would begin to slowly rise through the ranks of Telosian Government over the years, showing his "loyalty" to the Galactic Empire. While he was doing this, he was secretly using his resources in search for the survivors of the Jedi Order. Eventually, he became popular and was recently elected to be the Senator of Telos IV. He was now faced with a new challenge: Tremaine is now propelled into the galactic arena.

The Senator had saw Senator Organa speaking to Senator Cambrist as he entered the Senate Commons, he would bow lightly in respect toward Organa as the man leaves the room. In truth, Tremaine had respected the man for bravely speaking out against the Emperor. He had wished he could do the same thing, but as of now, he would remain in disguise. Tremaine turned his eyes toward Senator Ryuun and Veritas, men that had just joined Cambrist's table. He considered joining them at the table, but it would mean a dangerous game he was going to play. Those man seemed to truly be loyal to the Emperor, and he didn't want to make any mistakes. Especially not when he was recently elected.

Instead, Senator Fowlkes decided to approach a woman, which was seperated from those men. She seemed friendly, so he decided to approach her to introduce himself. "Greetings," The newly-elected Senator bowed in respect, "I am Senator Tremaine Fowlkes of Telos IV, and you are?"

"Thank you, Senator Ryuun," Cambrist said, a bit idly, as he recovered from the surprise of Ryuun having been standing directly behind him. Cambrist's hand had surreptitiously come to rest on his datapad—obscuring the screen from Ryuun's view—until, a moment later, he became aware of having done this, found it silly, and reprimanded himself. He had nothing to hide, after all. But even if he had, the thought of actually hiding something (or having to hide something) made Cambrist, who believed himself to be "the only honest Senator," distinctly uncomfortable. What an odd little thought experiment, he mused to himself. He realized, then, that he was being rather inattentive to his colleague, and returned to the moment. He switched off the datapad. "I appreciate your words, Senator," he said, half turning in his seat to glance at Ryuun behind him, and only having some marginal success in doing so, "But I do not believe there is such a thing as luck, and if there was, I would have no use for it. For you see, I consider my—"

Cambrist was interrupted by the untimely arrival of Senator Veritas, and slowly turned a glare on the man that seemed to distinctly lower the temperature in the room. Indeed, the Senator had represented the Tammuz Sector for four decades, and his longevity was widely admired. But one didn't serve in the Senate for four decades without being, in some sense, fickle. Veritas was a firm supporter of the Empire, as was Cambrist, but Cambrist had the sense (perhaps unfairly, perhaps not) that Veritas, unlike him, supported the Empire without truly having asked himself why. Certainly the Senator's remark in the Senate Rotunda earlier this morning—that a decree from the Emperor is by definition, a logical one—is a statement that, itself, defies logic. But none of this bothered him as much as being interrupted by Senator Veritas in what seemed to be a brusque, interrogative manner. His feathers ruffled, Cambrist was inclined to tell the Senator that his conversations were none of his business. But, he refrained from doing so.

"Hello," Cambrist said to him after a stony silence. "We discussed nothing of importance, Senator. What is your interest?" His eyes drifted briefly to Senator Fowlkes, then followed Fowlkes to Senator Cerra. He had seen her in the Senate enough times that her beauty, though no less striking, no longer commanded his attention as it once might have. He returned his gaze to Veritas, taking a deliberate sip of his wine as he waited for the man to explain himself.

Ryuun moved from behind Cambrist to stand almost beside him, nodding as well to Senator Veritas. It was a movement calculated to make the other Senator think, likely subconsciously, that Cambrist and Ryuun were together. Not in the sexual sense, of course; any man who knew Ryuun or Cambrist would know the truth, but together in the sense that Veritas did not immediately command all the boot-licking he received from other Senators from everyone.

"Good day, Senator Veritas. A pleasure as always." Ryuun kept his voice light and friendly. It would not do to upset the Emperor's favored Senator, after all. "It is kind of you to join Senator Cambrist and myself for a light snack and conversation."

He gave a warming smile to both of them, and sat slightly more relaxed in the chair. "Thank you, Senator Ryuun." he said, giving a nod back to him. He found the stance Ryuun was taking rather odd, both physically, and in his body language. For some reason, he was conveying the want of the lack of his presence. There were other signals being conveyed, but he did not dwell on it... nor did he really want to, and turned his focus back to Senator Cambrist. "I apologize if I offended and interrupted but..." he spoke, bringing his elbows onto the table, and raised his forearms, clasping is hands together. On top of them, his chin rested, with his glass of wine sitting underneath his arms. He gazed for a brief moment out at Coruscant before continuing.

He let out a sigh before he spoke, "I find it troubling, the accusations against Senator Mothma. Her and the Senator who filled my shoes in my gap of service to the Senate were very close friends. I regarded her as somewhat of...an equalizing presence. She could sure turn any legislation debate into a debate of the humanity behind it. She was also very close with Senator Organa. He is as loyal as they came, albeit a bit dated in his line of thinking. He is... unable... to adapt... to the new organization of government." he said, taking a moment to consider what he had just said, and gauging Cambrist's always changing facial expressions.

"I apologize, I am rambling..." he said, taking his hands back down to his thighs, and leaning back into the chair. "I am concerned for Senator Organa's health...mental, mind you. I am concerned that Senator Mothma's sudden betrayal of the Empire might have left him psychologically shaken. That he, unfortunately, might even start taking a similar course of action under false pretenses, paranoia, or delusional thought. I am also, too polite, to speak to him about this openly, so I was hoping you could enlighten me. He seems to be spending an awful lot of time with you lately." he said, still smiling as he took a sip of his wine. He considered adding 'As does Senator Ryuunm' but refrained from doing so, not wanting to possibly offend the young Senator.

Cambrist may have sported a number of facial expressions, yes, but they were all expressions of distaste (to varying degrees). Only occasionally would he smile—a sure sign that a pun was soon to follow, and that one would be well advised to duck. His smile had something of an unnatural quality to it, however; he was not unlike a cat in this respect (nor, indeed, in many other respects. Although, if one were to liken Cambrist to an animal, one couldn't avoid the observation that the fox on his family crest seemed quite appropriate). As for "the truth" that Senator Ryuun had referred to, it was, in fact, very much in question. After all, Cambrist was a bachelor at 30, and he had mentioned earlier that his memoir would be given to a nephew and, notably, not a son. However, to speculate about his sexuality was something of a moot point since, it had been said, his only love was for politics and, in particular, the politics of personal destruction. This wasn't entirely fair, mind you; he also had a passion for prose, and his knowledge of commerce was indeed encyclopedic. But insofar as it was said that he cared very little for people, this was undeniably true. People disappointed him (present company, sadly, not excluded). He was not unwilling to be pleasantly surprised, however, and, not wanting to be rude, he didn't let his disappointment show as he listened to Senator Veritas—instead, he assumed a neutral expression and drank his wine as he considered the man's words and the motives behind them.

Cambrist shrugged. "Mon Mothma is an exhibitionist," he said, contrarian as usual. "She knew the consequences of her actions, and now she has to pay them. As for Senator Organa, I suppose I do speak with him now and then. Alderaan is not unlike Brentaal in many respects, except, of course, for its politics. I do not agree with its or with the Senator's politics, but he seems a pleasant enough man. His sympathies may be similar to Senator Mothma's, but I doubt he will ever be as rash. And if he is," he raised his glass and shrugged again, "Well, he also knows the consequences." He took a sip of wine and set the glass down again. "What about you, Senator Ryuun? What are your thoughts on all of this?"

Even if Cambrist's sexuality was in question, which, hopefully, it was not, Ryuun was courting a rather beautiful female from Druckenwell, which should leave no doubts to whether or not he preferred the pole over the hole, to coin a phrase. He did, however, distance himself slightly from Cambrist, clasping his hands behind his back while listening to the two men speak. Cambrist was more conservative, careful in his words but also noncommittal. Veritas, though, was a clear supporter of the Empire; one who would never be swayed against it. However... that could prove quite useful in future dealings.

"Mon Mothma... Mon Mothma is an idealist. However, her ideals are not for the Empire. Her ideals are malformed and poisoned and it is with great sadness that I mourn the loss of a once-capable Senator. However... that sadness is tempered with the joy I will feel when she is shown the error of her ways. Senator Organa though... he strikes me, as you said, Senator Cambrist, as a man with similar ideals. I do not believe it is rashness that would prevent him from acting upon it, but timidness. He will do what is best for the Empire whether or not he likes it because he has enough sense to know that the hawk watches the mouse quite closely."

Ja'nar would not hear Senator Fowlkes at first, she was lost in thought as she held her cup of warm hot chocolate in both hands, bringing it to her lips once more as she took a sip, allowing the warm liquid wash down her throat, it immediately warmed her heart and soul. It seemed to make her think a bit clearer. She would stare out at the cityscape for a moment longer until Fowlkes words reached her mind, she would blink a bit as she turns slightly to look up to him, the glow from the city behind her as a small, kind smile touched her lips.

She had always been known to be one of the most welcoming Senators, while she did not offer much of her personal life up to tabloids like many did she would always entertain any who stopped by her office and tried her hardest to make them comfortable. Perhaps that was why not many knew where her heart laid. Was it with the Empire? Or the fledgling of a Rebellion that was starting to form here and there. She never truly spoke her mind, instead she stayed on the middle road, it was much safer there. At least that is what she always thought. She tried not to make enemies especially here, on Coruscant. She knew better than to turn her back on anyone of these men or women within the senate, if she ever did she knew there would be a few knives in her back. But that was neither here nor there at the moment. Her smile seemed to light up the room, as her eyes sparkled at the young senator that stood before. For a moment though, those dark brown orbs looked past Senator Fowlkes to the others who had gathered. She would just shake her head, men and their intrigue, at times she felt that they were worse than her own sex when it came to it, especially the men in the senate.

Ja'nar could only smile as the man bowed to her, it had been years since anyone bowed to her in a serious manner. It was usually done in a mocking way. A subtle hint that she was acting like a witch on a power trip. It only took one doing this to snap her out of those moments. "No need for such formalities Senator Fowlkes, I am Senator Ja'nar Cerra of Garos IV, it is a pleasure" she would motion to a chair at her table "You may join me if you wish, I promise I do not bite nor do I carry knives in which to stab you in the back with."

Normally a comment like that would be out of character for Ja'nar but she was increasingly feeling the pressure that some where out get her. She would continue to play politics though the only way she knew how. With a smile and a reasonable voice.

The intial greeting by Senator Cerra had confirmed his instincts, that she would be more welcoming than some of the Senators. He also figured that he had to be wary of who he choose to become friends with. If he was going to be helping the Jedi, then he would have to do it in secret. Senator Fowlkes is a rebel in a way, only without establishing a rebel cell...just yet. For now, his concerns are to find survivors of the Jedi Order and carefully choose who to ally with in the Imperial Senate. The man would let out a light smile, further letting Ja'nar know that he was not a threat. "It would be my honor." The Senator of Telos IV simply said as he moved to sit down on a chair across from her.

While he was attempting to make a conservation, he was also going to study Senator Cerra's political beliefs. Tremaine did not know a lot of people in the Senate, obviously new to the galactic stage of politics. "That's a relief. I do not wish to make any enemies. Especially when I'm new to the Senate." He decided not to take anything to eat or drink, not because he wasn't hungry or thirsty but because he was there to get to know the politicians as much as possible. "So, how did you get here? Into the Imperial Senate, I mean." A friendly tone would be heard by Senator Cerra and probably anyone else that's listening close by.

As all these matters progressed, the tall figure of Lord Gemmell, Advisor to the Emperor and member of the Imperial Ruling Council entered the Chamber, ignoring the protocol that this meeting was for Senators, while there was an inordinate number of disgusting old men here.. there was also a goodly ammount of fine specimens here...

He appeared silently looming over Mr Ryuun, pale and gaunt, what was perhaps a smile or a sneer on his lips. He spoke in a deep voice, which spoke of a depth of immorality and libertinage unseen throughout galactic history "You Senators do love your gossip, mmm?" he sized up all three of the men present, mentally undressing them in a second and envisioning the most sickly sweet debaucheries being enacted upon their frames.

The dark eyes in his sockets panned the room before focusing on Veritas.. the old man was of course an object which provided the idea of little entertainment for him... but the mans nephew, the young Septimus Veritas, was all together a more alluring and lustful prospect, the young dandy had been living it up on Coruscant recently, and was rumoured to have expended his not inconsiderable annuity on living the life of a rake.. How he would enjoy that young man if he fell into his hands.

"Senator Veritas.. I trust your Nephew is well?"

The dark eyes then turned to Cambrist.. the man was certainly not unattractive, in a bookish, perhaps intelligent way... a proud man, a man of few morals and fewer scruples.. this was a man whos soul it would be so exquisite to break, perhaps in his bedchamber or in the dungeons of his palace, it mattered little which as the joie de vivre was much the same in either case.

"Senator Cambrist" he said with the twitch of an eye that would not be noticed by anyone but Cambrist, but could be read as perhaps the ontogenesis of a wink.

Ja'nar smiled softly to him as she used her foot to push out the chair for him from under the table. Ja'nar was pleasant enough to look at. Most would say she was beautiful, but Ja'nar felt that way about herself. She had a major self esteem issues that were deeply rooted in her childhood, a part of her life she rarely spoke of, and that there were almost no evidence of any longer. She would glance over at the boys, there seemed to be more of them gathering but none that truly interested her. Though Cambrist may be fun to bother, she thought idly to herself. She was trying to reinvent herself a bit, to help hide the real her.

Ja'nar would turn her attention back to Fowlkes, "Do not worry too much about making enemies. Everyone will turn into an enemy soon enough. If you wish to make it out of politics in one piece you keep your personal life just that, personal. Do not invite others into it even if you think you can trust them. Secrets are good. It is none of their" she says as she tilts her head slightly to the congeration of men, "business what you do when you are not here."

Then came the question she always hated answering, how did she get here in the imperial senate. It was a question she often asked herself. She would sit there for a long moment as her gaze went towards the large picture windows once more, "It is a long story but the short verison of it is the last senator to represent my planet did very little when it came to the senate and far too much on the lower levels so I have returned to get Garos' standing back in order while we are in the process of finding another senator to replace the previous one." she would glance down to her mug of hot chocolate, she wanted to be back at home where she didn't have to hide everything she could just live. She didn't fear what would happen as she turned a corner or entered the Senate chambers. She would glance back to him for a moment "How about you? How did you come to get here young senator?"

The Empire had many merits, but the Viziers were not among them, Cambrist noted darkly to himself as the shuddersome Vizier Gemmell approached the table and greeted each of them in turn. Indeed, the Emperor had an ugly habit of keeping around him individuals with a lot of power and little apparent responsibility, much less accountability. Cambrist had never been sure what exactly it was that the Viziers did, particularly Gemmell, who seemed to be a creature of the social scene. Cambrist wasn't, and his table was becoming rather too crowded for his taste. He finished his wine conspicuously, then stuffed his datapad under his arm. "Lord Gemmell," he said, nodding to the man as he stood and pushed out his chair, "Won't you sit down?" He then glanced about the other Senators, "Gentlemen, I must be going. Enjoy your evening." There was a slight, mischievious flourish to this comment as he left Senator Ryuun and Senator Veritas, no doubt feeling rather uncomfortable, in the company of the good Vizier.

He passed Senator Cerra's table on the way out, but, aside from a brief, blank glance in her direction, showed no recognition. It seems he would need to meet her, and Senator Fowlkes, on another occasion.
