The Commodore shook his head sadly "We are not men of war Mr Shiva, we are men of peace. We have no wish to fight our way into your nests and shed blood. You fight for a long lost cause with no hope of discovery. By remaining as you do you radicalize many against you who would perhaps share your ideals if they were not forced on them at the point of a blaster. I am saddened that you have not left your shameful Clone Wars era past behind you and stepped into the new dawn of the Empire. I will give you the chance once again to stand down and surrender to the Alsakan Aegis Fleet, or you will suffer the wrath of the Imperial Navy." he was not easily goaded, a career officer who had made his career on being thorough and efficient, he had no wish to start being impetuous now.

He sighed and returned to his observation of the planet and system sensors on his holographic bridge table. All was presently quiet apart from the nonsense from Shiva, which did he supposed serve to break the monotony. The fleet quietly orbited over the Capital, making gentle manouvres and staying sharp.

"There is a six million credit bounty on my head, Commodore." Shiva's voice was sly, almost as if he were winking at the man. "The Imperials cannot pluck me from this planet, but perhaps you and your men can. Care to try? All glory for Alsakan? I think not. The Separatist movement is dead, Commodore. I can embrace that, but I will never accept this foolish Empire. We are free men all, and that is something I will fight for. We will not surrender to you. I will not surrender to you. I will not surrender to the Imperial Navy either. This planet is firmly under my control. Pour out the blood of the Imperial Army, but Shiva is unending. I am as like a god, and you cannot halt my wrath nor stop my unending fury towards those who would oppress."

"Sure are hard for yourself aren't you." spoke the Commodore with a chuckle as he saw it. "We are not Anaxes or Brentaal, the people of Alsakan do not crave glory or fame, we simply wish the best for the people of the Galaxy."

"Ah ha! Then I have you at your own game, Commodore! Rinn is not a member of your galactic empire of foolishness! You are the intruders here, not I! You are the ones who should leave. I will give you a counter offer: provide shuttles and transport for all my men, droids and Tintinna who wish to depart with me and we will leave Rinn to you and your... people. If you will not, then you have no chance here. Make your choice, Commodore."

"Nah. Sorry, thats not an option. Surrender or face the Imperial Navy, those are your choices." He cut the channel.

Holt was apprised of the situation within a few moments of his entrance on the scene, the Magnum emerging from hyperspace a confident distance from the planet rather close to the Alsakan blockade. It blasted its way impressively through the asteroid field, a wide swath being cleared with surprising efficiency in a light show that was dazzling, if brief. This simple act would also cause chaos in the targeting and navigation systems of the asteroid emplacements, as the orbits of countless dozens of asteroids were perturbed and sent collisions throughout the field that didn't much concern Holt but would likely shield the Magnum from much of the firepower from the emplacements (temporarily, at least). Taking immediate note of the large emplacements, however, the Magnum assumed a position over Rinn's horizon where at least one of the guns would have no direct line of fire.

The Captain, meanwhile, wasn't on the bridge, leaving it to the able command of his executive officer as Holt himself resided in the tactical control room. He stood stoically over a large holographic display which came to life as raw data on the Alsakan forces and preliminary scans from Rinn and its defenses began to appear, casting a blue glow on his stern visage in the otherwise dim room. A Major in command of the Magnum's ground detachments was also present, along with varied techs and other staff. Upon taking note of Rinn's surprisingly formidable defenses, Holt also summoned the ship's master gunner to advise him, if need be.

Holt's interpretation of his original orders had been simple; there was a pirate presence on Rinn in need of the boot. Not necessarily to boot them out, but simply to give them a stomping that would leave few survivors and discourage them from persisting on Rinn. A limited action and an admonishment to Alsakan to mind itself in this area, and move along. It was possible the pirates would go on to infest somewhere else, but Holt didn't much care—he rather resented an assignment so insignificant especially having stooped to interdiction missions over the prior months; not 24 hours ago, the Magnum had intercepted and impounded a shipment of Nexu that was without proper documentation. Holt had no idea what to do with them, the whole episode reminded him that he had missed 'the best' of the war.

But then the 'pirates' boasted openly of their affiliation to one of the Empire's most wanted Separatist fugitives—'Shiva,' whose name had echoed faintly in the ear of Imperial Intelligence and who was believed to be responsible for the ambush of the Dark Whispers, a Star Destroyer of the same make and model as the Magnum. His interest piqued, Holt took the time on the trip to Rinn to review the ambush of the Dark Whispers and, as a result, the first thing he did on his arrival at Rinn was to deploy TIE sentries to scout the distant reaches of the system as well as Rinn's asteroid field in closer detail. TIE fighters were also prepared, of course, and TIE bombers too; Holt did still have a mission to do, but he wouldn't be caught unsuspecting as Captain Deamora had been. The temperament (and candor) of these Separatists was suspicious to him, too. Alsakan might as well be a red herring—it was they, the Separatists, who had demanded the Empire's attention with their boasts and taunts.

At the very least, they knew the Empire was coming. Holt was wary. Undaunted even by Rinn's fortifications, but wary.

Holt ordered that communication be established with the Alsakan forces and any information shared that hadn't been already. Then the Alsakans would be urged to maintain a safe distance from the scene, just over the planetary horizion, perhaps. Holt didn't want witnesses, but the Alsakans could prove useful and he'd rather keep them on hand.

"Targeting solutions," Holt ordered as data on the Separatist foundry that presented itself as a 'city'—and on the orbital emplacements, also—streamed into the tactical control room. "Mind those emplacements, and make ready to deploy the bombers as planned." For the sole purpose of buying time for the crew to go about their preparations, Holt ordered that a rambling message be sent to the surface inviting the Separatist forces to surrender peaceably. He also jammed all communications not on an authorized frequency, including the transmitter on Rinn's moon.

"Bearing off on course IU:23 K:82 spoke a Communications lieutenant to the Imperial Navy forces." The Alsakan ships then moved off to a position (as requested) beyond the planetary horizon. They powered down their terrestrial sensors to a lower power setting so they would not have direct sensor records over the horizon but kept a sharp eye on their Hyperspace buoys now ringing the system - they would have advanced warning of any incoming jumpers. Equally, the rest of the system was still actively scanned for enemy vessels - they did not want an Alurion on their hands.

The TIE Fighters remained on patrol also, keeping close to the Capital ships.

The asteroid weapons, if noted truly, would still not fire on the Magnum when it arrived. It very well might be that they were more of a show than any real weapon system. If all communications were jammed, then Shiva couldn't possibly hope to speak or reply to Captain Holt, and so no reply was sent. There was, in effect, little the planet-bound group could do at this point. And so they waited for some type of action or communication that wasn't simply the norm when Imperials undertook such a mission.
