| Ana blinked slowly and shook her head. "....You had her killed?" She asked, absolutely in awe that he could do something so horrible. The water bottle in her hand actually fell from her grip and onto the floor, which snapped her out of her moment of shock. Immediately, she went to pick it up and then got up to get a towel or something from the nearby fresher to dry the water.
"Uhm....yes. The name is familiar." She murmured as she dropped to the floor and tried to dry the water from the plush carpeting.

| Keeping his voice calm and easy, Stark shook his head. "I did not have her killed. I defended myself and as a result, she perished. She was not about to take no for an answer and at the time she confronted me, she disabled my guard and there was nobody else close nearby. Running would not have been an option as she had a blaster and I did not. I realize this may seem harsh, but my life and yours are more valuable than a common thug.
"Out of curiosity, where do you know her from?"

| She shook her head and focused on the water on the floor, that she had mostly soaked up by that point. Ana nodded her understanding, though it was still hard for her to even think that her fiancee could kill someone. Even if it was self-defense.
"Did you know that I was in an orphanage for a long time after my mother died?" She asked, folding the towel to keep herself distracted. "I think she was one of the other girls. My Aunt came and found me when I was probably....seven or eight and she took me to live with her at the Vanden's and I got to go to school. you know the rest. I never saw or heard from any of them again, but the name is familiar."

| "I imagine I was given more of a chance than she was. Or she was given chances that were just...different." Ana cleared her throat some and forced a small smile. "I'm fine. Just fine...I just was a little....well...." She wasn't quite sure how to explain it.
"Killing people in wars is different, I think. this was just....one on one right? I had just never thought of it before, I suppose."

Stark gazed evenly at his future wife. "I told you once that I would protect you at all costs. What sort of husband would I be if all I could offer were guards and enclosed walls? You cannot live like that, caged up, and I would not be a good man if I asked you to do so. You will not always want guards following our family wherever we go and so I must be prepared to do what is necessary to keep you and our child safe."

| Oh what had she gotten herself into? She knew all too well, and she had been fine with it until just moments ago. Was she still fine with it? Of course, though at the moment a little more unsettled than before.
"I appreciate you not wanting to keep me locked up here. I don't need to be put in a cage to be safe." she finally said, and then nodded. "I understand....why you did that. I do." she said, hopefully convincing him.

| Stark knew better inside, about how she felt, but he would let it go. "As you say, my love. I am no different from the man you have known all this time. I have done distasteful things in war because I must and from time to time, I have done things I must do to save my life. You may not like to consider it, but the alternative is that you would not have me and our child would have no father. Faced with those options..." He let his voice trail off and looked at her meaningfully.

| "Well...." she mused as she put the towel away. "If she had killed you, then that would have saved me the effort of slowly poisoning you over the next couple of years....." Ana said, and unsuccessfully hid her smile from him. Of course she was teasing.
"Speaking of our child, Mr. Stark..." She said as she stretched out on her stomach on their large bed. Ana used a pillow to prop herself up. "You haven't told me which room I can use as the nursery. And I haven't told you something...."

| Stark chuckled as she brought her humor forth. That was always a good sign. "Well Miss Riley, there are an abundance of rooms; all you need to do is choose one and I will have it converted. Much easier than letting me decide, after all. I might choose something odd. And what haven't you told me, my love?" Stark had a curious look upon his countenance now and he leaned forward slightly, quite intrigued.

| "How long is it before you get to call me Mrs. Stark? I am quite over Riley." She smiled some and rolled onto her back and stretched. "I think the room next door....I need it to be close, you know? No offense to any of your employees, but I am not letting someone else raise my child." Ana knew others who hired servants just to raise their children, and she was not going to be one of those people.
"That physician you brought in told me something that you might be interested to know."
