Stark's bags were packed, and he was quite ready to go. He'd left Ana standing outside the bedroom door as he rushed back in to grab an extra pair of pants he wanted to bring with him. Emerging from their room, he kissed her cheek briefly. "My love, Roman Lekpin is due to drop by for a few. He'll be departing Lorrd a few days after I do, but he sent me a communique saying he wanted to come and speak with me in private. Would you be so kind as to ask the servants to prepare the small hall with a few drinks and something for a snack? I hope you'll join us as well. You've met Mr. Lekpin, haven't you?"

Ana had insisted on helping him pack, which meant she had tucked little notes randomly into the pockets of his clothes, and perhaps a small package of his favorite candy or snack somewhere into the bag. Just so that he remembered how much she cared while he was away, even though she was sure that she would talk to him while he was gone, it was the thought that counted. As he ran back into the bedroom for something, Ana toyed with the handles of the small travel bag that she was holding, the only bag that she was technically allowed to carry as she had been told not to lift anything with any weight to it.

When Alyn returned, Ana turned her head some and looked up at him as he told her about Senator Lekpin stopping by. "I won't bother them with it. The girls went to town for a while, so I can set up tea rather easily." She said, already thinking about what she could do in the short time. "I haven't met him, no, but I am glad that he is coming by. I am even more glad that he is feeling well enough to return to Senate soon." Ana kept the bag in her hands and started to walk, but then stopped and handed it to him. "I'll go and get everything ready..." She would kiss him briefly before she went off to set something up in the sitting room, for comfort.

He would undoubtedly find the notes during his trip; it was her thoughtfulness and sweetness that he loved her for all the more. As she kissed him and he took the handbag, he followed her down the hall. "Well, it's good you'll get to meet him at least, and that he's taking over in the Senate. Thank you my love, for preparing the tea. You really do do too much for me." Moving to the small hall himself, he was informed almost immediately that Lekpin was present and would be arriving in the hall briefly.

Roman Lekpin arrived with little fanfare; he was well-recovered from his injuries sustained in the Droid Uprising, though he walked with a slight limp and the aide of an ornate cane. "Stark, good of you to have me in your home," he said without preamble. "I understand you leave tomorrow for Imperial Center where I'm to meet with you to transfer the representation of Lorrd back to myself. I must say, you haven't done too terrible in my absence." Taking a seat with a slight grunt, he exhaled, relaxing.

"So where is this fiance of yours that I've heard so much about?"

Ana had actually let one of the kitchen maids help her get things ready, which was rare for her. It went much smoother with someone to talk to, even if the girl seemed shy about it at first. She walked in, just as Lekpin was asking about her, carrying a tray with tea and some small sandwiches, fresh fruit, and a few sweets.

"I am so sorry for being late." She smiled brightly and sat the tray down on a small table between the comfortable chairs. "Too big of a kitchen and too many dishes to choose from, you know." Ana joked before she looked between the two of them with a smile.

"Thank you my love. Roman, this is my fiancee, Ana. Ana, this is Representative Roman Lekpin." Stark stood as Ana entered the room, moving to pull out a chair for her so she could sit, whereupon he would retake his seat. "That's correct, Roman. We'll be doing the change soon. I like to think I haven't quite alienated everyone in the Senate but close." Stark chuckled and shook his head. "So what was it you wanted to speak to me about?"

"So this is the famous Miss Ana Riley," Lekpin said as he looked up at her. He declined to stand, largely because of his leg, which was the slowest to heal. "You have guts, girl. It took a lot to stand up to that democratic party fellow, but Lorrd loved you for it. Great public relations. So you glad to be seeing your fiancee step down as Representative, I'll bet?" Lekpin had a sly grin for a moment and then went serious.

"That's what I've come to talk to you about, Stark. You know how I feel about you... and that will never change. I see you as irresponsible, a wastrel and I'll never understand why you deserve the wealth you have... but the people of Lorrd trust you, and they like you. I want you to stay on as Defense Minister. It's one of the postings I can assign myself. You own a good-sized defense company and the ruling houses... well, they seem to think you'll make a good man for the spot."

Ana would squeeze Alyn's hand briefly as she took her seat. "It was simply the right thing to do, Mr. Lekpin. My intention wasn't to make anyone love or hate me, but I am relieved that it was the former. Mr. Lennon did what he thought was right, as did I. And I will always be there for Alyn, and for Lorrd, if they need me." She said as she started to pour tea. It was a simple herbal blend with a touch of honey for sweetness. After she had poured them each a cup and herself, she settled back and let the two of them talk and eat if they wanted. There were matching plates laying next to the tray.

Stark squeezed her hand in return, though he'd not yet poured any tea, preferring to wait for the moment. "Minister of Defense? Roman, I was only holding the post of Representative because the people chose me. I will be married soon, and I'll have my work to deal with as well. I wasn't intending on holding anything more public than being Lord of the Kinyov Province. Beyond that, I just wish to operate in the private sector and work the contracts I have now."

"Good to know, girl. Good to know." Lekpin was old-fashioned in some ways, and calling her girl was not intended as an insult. "You've got more political sense than this young buck." Lekpin looked at Stark and shook his head. "Alienating half the Senate indeed. They'll tell some stories about you yet. As for being Minister of Defense... damnit, Stark, your contributions to the Lorrdian defense fleet are well known. You've funded a number of ships that we wouldn't have been able to easily float otherwise because of your smart business deals. I'd make you Minister of Finance, but the fellow elected from House Volmen is brighter than you... and he's been there one term already and done a damned good job. The post is open though; I want to see you on it.

"Your fiancee is a valuable asset to Lorrd, Miss Riley. Maybe you can convince him to take the post. Don't give me an answer now, Stark. Think on it. Let me know when we transfer the mantle of representative back to myself on Imperial Center."

Ana took a sip of her tea and kept her expression completely even. He knew nothing of her, then again, not many people did. "I have a degree in political science, Mr. Lekpin. Many people do not know that, and do not care to know." She smiled and sat her teacup down as she listened to the two of them.

Her gaze went to Alyn as she considered the request. "I cannot promise you anything, Mr. Lekpin, just that I will not just let him toss the idea away without truly thinking it over. He is not quite so irresponsible as you might think. He takes a great deal very seriously and I know that the well being of the Lorrdian people is very high on his list."

"I realize I helped establish Lorrd's defensive fleet, Roman... but I have a family now. One day I will have children. My responsibility cannot be dedicated solely to my work; I don't want my family lacking because I have to divide my time up between so many different areas." He squeezed Ana's hand again lightly, letting her know she was first on his mind. "I'll consider it, Roman, but I don't want to promise anything offhand that I can't keep."

Finishing off his cup of tea, Lekpin grunted again as he stood. "Well I'm glad you'll think it over, Stark. I understand you have your family. Miss Riley, it was a pleasure meeting you, however brief. I'm glad Stark is marrying a good woman... a learned woman at that. I'm sure you'll be able to keep him out of trouble. Now if you'll forgive me, I must depart. I have some things of my own to take care of."

Ana rested her cup on the table and rose to her feet when Mr. Lekpin announced he was leaving. "It was a pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Lekpin. I hope you will come by some day when you can stay longer. But I am sure that we will be seeing you at the wedding even before that?" She looked to Alyn to see, as she had stopped looking at the RSVP's that were coming in, after the one from Cambrist.

"Also, please call me Ana." It was a simple enough request. While she would let Alyn walk him out, Ana would start cleaning up a bit, though she left lunch sitting there for when Alyn returned so that he could eat something at least. Her thoughts turned to the job offer Alyn had just received. Defense minister? She could certainly understand why it was offered, as he did know a great deal about defense as far as she knew.

It would be difficult, she thought, to convince him to take the position. Her arrival had upturned his entire world and she did not want to hold him back in any way. Had he needed to continue Representing Lorrd in the Senate, she would have supported that, and if he needed or wanted to take the position offered, she would support him in that also. After all, she was used to be around a man in such a position, and she was also very used to being alone.
