Nodding appreciatively on Davon's speed and form, Stark turned to deposit the DE-10 on a nearby table. Gesturing briefly towards the one Davon now held, Stark said "Keep it. Consider it a gift for hearing out my offer this far, at least." Walking over to the bar, Stark poured himself a drink into a rather artfully-made glass. Lifting it and examining the amber liquid inside, he swished it about briefly before taking a sip.

"Name your price, then," Stark returned evenly. "Is it protection you want? You'll have two of my Shadowguard. They are some of the best fighters you'll find in the legal side of the galaxy. The Noghri alone would command a high price as a bodyguard to any Coruscanti native. Furthermore, I'll dedicate an Avarice-class frigate strictly for your use with you as the final say at the helm... or if you prefer something smaller and less obtrusive, a custom vessel outfitted as only mine are. Furthermore, two dropships of SDCSC personnel will be at your disposal for the duration of the mission. Clusterfuck or not, that puts enough speed, firepower and manpower at your hands to wage a small war... or fight your way out of one if you need to.

"I understand, at least briefly, about reconciling things with Artemis. If nothing else, you can tell him you are gainfully employed in this legal venture. I would go myself, but between family, companies and... well, let's just say there are certain people in Wild Space that I'd rather not run across again. It is far safer and easier for you to travel unobstructed than I."

He wrinkled his nose, realizing that he was turning down a well-paying job in favor of doing what he thought was right for someone else. When the hell did he become that kind of person? "It ain't a matter of price, Stark," he continued, nodding thankfully when Stark basically handed him a well-made weapon for free. He wasn't the type to turn down gifts, especially pretty guns. "I spent years out on my own, y'know? Doin' my own thing, never really talked to dad." He sighed, twirling the pistol a few times before sliding it into the holster. "After mom died I jus'.. left him on his own. And now we're back, working on things. I'm not about to run off again, not the right time for it."

"And don't get me wrong," he added as an aside, taking a few steps toward the door and gathering up the blazer he had thrown over a chair. "I love big ships and big guns as much as the next guy, but putting me in charge of a warship is just gonna lead to all sorts of trouble. For me and you." Dav grinned, sliding the cherry-red blazer back over his strong shoulders and running a hand through his mussed chestnut hair. "All you'll end up with is a really expensive, really blown-up paperweight if you did that."

He smirked, reaching into the pocket of his jacket and procuring a cigarette he'd stashed there. He didn't light the cancer stick, of course, that would just be rude. "Thanks for the pistol," he concluded, words a tad muffled by the object between his lips. Vanden gave Stark a polite wave, pivoting lazily on his heel and heading for the door.

"Think on it," Stark called to Davon's departing back as he moved to wipe down his own weapon. "The offer still has some time to it. Speak to your father. Speak to Ana. Think it over. I may call upon you sometime in the near future." When Davon was gone, Stark smiled to himself slightly. The man was indeed like Stark in some ways... perhaps more honorable though. Stark still needed a better guide through Wild Space. He needed a way to establish a small construction yard, as well as a defensive station, where Blackfire could easily manufacture what was needed. To do it under the eyes of the denizens of Wild Space would be hard enough, and Stark himself had made something of a bad name as a younger man. Well, a bad name for a false identity. Apparently, one did not kill a Chiss captain and simply walk away without a bloodprice on their head, self defense be damned. Still, nothing had come of it for years and years.

With the weapon cleaned and put away, Stark would depart the arms room to return to the party.
