| JEDI COUNCIL CHAMBERS, JEDI TEMPLE YAVIN SYSTEM, YAVIN IV SOMETIME AFTER THE COUNCIL SESSION ENDS Malius paused, examining the sheet of flimsi as he read the report that had been filed by Jedi Knight Jace Varitek about the battle that had occured on the planet Dagobah. Methodical, and calculative; that was the way that Jace Varitek was. He wrote with a technique that lingered on boring. Too detailed, and too percise. Nonetheless, the style was very much formal, and very much militaristic, something that Malius could commend the human on. His beady black eyes passed over the sheet one last time, then glanced up. With the other Jedi Knights gone to their respective assignments, only Jedi Master Malius Ky-Nomi and Jedi Master Raztlain Alies remained in the room. The latter had his eyes closed, his legs crossed, and was breathing in the same methodical and boring manner that was Jaces writting. Yet ever so often a flicker of the force sent ripples to Malius, informing him that the other was attentive. Malius grinded his teeth together in that all-too-annoying way as he had so many other times. It was a means by which he could scale his lips and allow them to not bother him, much like how humans licked their lips to moisten them, but the sound it produced was one altogether eerie sensation. "So you say you engaged him in preliminary battles..." Malius trailed off, letting his eyes and his mind continue the statement. Then he set the sheet of flimsi aside, and instead focused on the two guards that were standing near the doors. Neither was force sensitive, but both were quite capable fighters. They were the ones who usually ran to fetch padawans or those summoned. "Nevermind... Jedi Knight Jace Varitek, if you will escort these men to Jedi Knight Havoc, and bring him before the Council." It wasn't until Jace had left to get Havoc that Malius glanced carefully at Jedi Master Raztlain Alies. This debate had happened countless times before. With the two of them fiercely debating the teaching styles of Jedi Master Karth Darksailor. Jedi Master Raztlain Alies seemed to consider it essential to let the student pick his path, but Jedi Master Malius Ky-Nomi was an first and foremost a teacher of harmony and serenity. The two had often clashed with ideals. Still their was a secular group of individuals that Malius referred to as Karthies. Members who were chaotic, yet lightsided. Who gave into impulses and emotions (as Malius had earlier) but were at the same passionate about the lightside, about right, about justice. How easy they could fall... "I knew this would happen," he let Raztlain enjoy the silence, though he caught the faintest flicker of a smirk from Raztlain Alies. Could he have actually smiled? Or perhaps Jedi Master Raztlain Alies was laughing inwardly for the simple reason that Malius, however wise, was also a stubborn fool. In either case, it was time to pass judgement, on Jedi Knight Havoc.

| Alies did indeed smile, and a low chuckle, probably too low to hear, issued from his slightly parted lips. Raztlain, though skilled in the arts of projecting images to others and confusing their thoughts, was less practiced in mind reading; he could not discern Malius’s intents with his comment. Part of him imagined that the other Master was insinuating that this particular fall was somehow Alies’ fault; another knew that Maluis merely spoke of their age old argument over how students should be directed to their respective paths. What, perhaps, Maluis did not understand was that Raztlain had never disagreed about Karth’s teaching style. Alies and Darksailor (as a matter of fact) had had many and lengthy arguments on that matter, each ending with the latter getting angry and storming from the chamber. Raztlain too had worried about Havoc, and was similarly worried about Karth’s recent Padawan, Quelar Zandovin. Again, split in two, Raztlain debated if it was better or worse for Zandovin that Karth had left the Jedi. He returned his mind to the matter at hand. The New Republic Chief of State had recently contacted Alies with a proposition concerning rouge Jedi and the ability and indeed duty to investigate and hold them accountable for their crimes, a proposition that was not at all to the likeing of some of the Jedi. However, as the incident with Havoc had been kept relatively quite it was of no consequence. Alies turned to face Malius and spoke soft. “As did I old friend, as did I.” He let his eyes drift closed and drew in several well measured breaths. “The question now is where do we go from here. Havoc must pay for his crimes; they are, most unfortunately for him, well documented. He must be disciplined, but to what end?” Deliberately he paused, laced his fingers and touched his thumbs to his chin. “This must not become another Kip Durron or Darwin Sky,” he muttered quietly, almost to himself.

| It was at that moment that Varitek returned to the Council chamber, with the two rangers and Havoc in his company. It had been a disquieting walk back from Havoc's quarters, without a word being exchanged between the two Jedi Knights with the exception of Varitek's sullen, "The Council wishes to see you." Havoc had simply nodded in return, no doubt noticing the solemn mood of his old friend, and his disinclination to speak to him. Even with the rangers, and even with Havoc having recovered his wits and returned seemingly to "normal," Jace was all too aware of the weight of his lightsaber at his belt, should the need to use it arise. In sum, he didn't trust Havoc, and he doubted he ever would again after the slaughter he'd witnessed, and the murderous rage he had seen in his friend's eyes. "Masters," Jace bowed his head respectfully to the assembly of Councilmen, from Malius and Raztlain to Streen and Solusar. He presented Havoc to the Council and then notably remained in the shadows near the gallery, feeling apprehensive about witnessing, much less partaking in, the judgment or punishment of his old friend, however deserved it might have been.

| Alone in his room, Havoc had a very big headache, but even a bigger lump on his head. Everyday when he saw Varitek, he referred to him as Bullseye Sally. Regardless of whether or not Jace had used the force the guide his shot to Havoc's forhead, it was a hell of an aim... regardless of who you were. Sadly enough for Jace, GP survived... well his head anyways. It had become a personal project of Havoc's to repair his friend when he went into that frenzy. As Varitek approached the room, he would hear arguing between the two. "If you don't stay still, I'll turn you into an astromech droid." Annoyingly spoken by Havoc. GP's eyes lit up as Havoc spoke. "You were the one to turn me into a jigsaw puzzle, you idiot!" And Havoc smirked a little. Nice to know that the backup memories of GP were still functioning. As the door opened, Havoc turned to see Jace. "Sally!" He called out in good humor. Havoc took notice of the rangers sent with Jace, and all Havoc could do was smirk. "So... I take it these are bulleyes in training?" He said, getting an inspection of them. Not bothering to get dressed, Havoc would proceed to the council room in only sweatpants and socks, and of course his utility belt. Before he left, Havoc turned to GP and noded. "Stick around." And before GP could swear, the door was shut. As they proceeded towards the Council chambers, Havoc babbled. "So... Varitek... I never knew you traveled in such esteemed company." He continued to poke fun at the rangers as they proceeded down to the chambers. Since returning, Havoc returned to his old self. Sarcastic down to the bone, and really not one for sweet talk. "I do hope you included in your report that I was attacked first?" He asked, in a cocky voice. Jace wasn't there, so therefore it wasn't really sure who started it. Sure from GP recordings, it seemed like Havoc started it, but if there was one truth to this... it was that he was justified in the slaughtering of such disgusting... swampbacks. Entering the room, Havoc proceeded to the middle, and faced the Masters. First, he eyeballed Master Malius Ky-Nomi. "Ah... Master Malius... always a pleasure to see you. I still see your head looking like a shriveled cucumber." This has a inside joke of Havoc's. While the masters disapproved of it, it was the only thing to keep Havoc from really losing his mind around here. He then turned to Master Alies. "Raz... do you not ever shave anymore? You're starting to look like a Wampa every day I see you." With that out of his system, he turned serious. "I know, I know. Havoc, you disobeyed the Jedi Code, you put us to shame... yaddy yaddy ya. Tell me something new, would you?" His annoyance rose, though no one said anything... yet. "As Bullseye Sally forgot to mention in his report, I was attacked first. GP and I were hiding in the swamp, ready to ambush them. GP let off a noise too soon, and they got to us first. So therefore, my slaughter... yes, I said it... MY slaughter, was justified. And thanks to your loyal knight hiding with his buddies, I have a lump on my forehead... and I have no fighter." He turned back to Jace. "I demand atleast a blasted Y-wing in return for my troubles."

| "A cucumber?" The joke was evidently lost on the Masters face, who simply--and solemnly--stared at Havoc with a scrutiny that was very characteristic of Malius Ky-Nomi. An alien with an apathy for staring at padawans and underlings as nothing more than prey that he intended to feast upon than those that required guidance. "Havoc; Havoc; Havoc, what ever are we to do." He sighed, his lips smacking together in that altogether horrendous sound. "A fighter is the least of your worries. How can you justify the slaughter of individuals in an act that was not self defense? For indeed, it is difficult for myself to truly conceive of every student of this temple attacking you--and even so, are you meaning to tell me that they were capable of threatening your life to such an extent that you had to kill every single one?" While it was not unheard of, Malius' words echoed deep within the chambers, a sense of dread lingering with the hint of such death. "I am interested to hear your report Jedi Knight Havoc, if you will enlighten me."

| Raztlain neither smiled nor frowned, in fact he did not even twitch at Havoc’s sarcasm; it was quite lost to him. His cold grey eyes simply maintained their place on Havoc’s face while his own remained passive and positively disturbing. He let the silence hang in the air for a few minutes before taking a deep breath. “I too would hear what Jedi Knight Havoc has to say in his defense, and, if Jedi Master Malius Ky’Nomi would not be too wearied I would hear from Jedi Knight Jace Varitek as well, though I have read his detailed report in full. Also I would demand that the droid be brought forth as evidence." He spoke using Maluis’ preferred formality. He then turned towards the other Master and spoke in silence through the Force. -{Jedi Knight Celice Denowi approaches.}-

| Continuing her steady stride through the Yavin IV Praxeum, Celise glanced around, a few locks of silver hued hair falling from under her hood. Gone were the traditional black and charcoal colors she atypically wore, instead replaced with a more conventional forest green ensombel. Her presence was really the true suprise. Few expected that she would return after the explosion on Deralia and the fall of the NIO, which some cited as her doing. Indeed the coincidental Jedi and Sith appearance on Deralia had created a high mistrust of Park's security protocols. The fact that his wife was slain by one such Sith despite the presence of his elite guard.. just further cemented such malcontent. Now Deralia was a decripit Taris in training, a urban waste which was rapidly collapsing. For some Jedi it was shock, for others it was joy. Her coming was much like that of her holocron master's in her heyday, and it was like a quiet tremble in the force to see her again. But there are some who dislike "trembles". Some who prefer quiet and solitude to change of such rapid sorts as she had wrought in the past. Thus it was no suprise really that there were also a minority within the Jedi that distrusted her. Some who had followed her story since she had come six years earlier with a holocron to the Order, and were suspicious of her connection to the ancient Sith. Usually these were the historians of the order, and knew very well who Ryuka tas Vorhn was. Invariably these sorts carried a quiet discontent. It was worth noting that discontent among the Jedi usually amounted to rueful humor and occassional jokes as Jedi did not scorn. Well some of the Karthies might, but such was another story. Reaching the Council chambers, Celise' green eyes noted one such Knight in the form of Jace Varitek through the Duraglass doors. Havoc was there also, which meant one thing. The Council was busy. With a guilty look of sympathy for Malius and Raztlain, she seated herself. The poor duo.. no doubt they were rather occupied. Havoc was a firebrand and Malius especially must of been exasperated she thought as she leaned back against the wall and closed her eyes. And so she would wait outside of the Chambers until she was called for, while Havoc had his "day in court". She was different as Varitek could no doubt feel.. but how different? After all.. historically her holocron master (Vorhn) had come before the Council also. Though Vorhn's meeting with the Council in -1000 BBY had been a exceedingly bloody affair...

| Havoc nodded and then glanced around. Impressed with the masters so far, but not willing to give up. He eyeballed eached master and stared directly into their eyes. Feeling... yes... feeling their intentions for him to march into no-man's-land, which he had done several times with them. Sighing some, he kept his nod. "As you wish, masters. This is how it began" Begining to pace, he walked in circles with a hand upon his chin, then suddenly stopped. He was sideways from the masters and the door. "It all started when late one night, I crept into Master Shinzon's room. As it was unaware to many in this temple, I was on a mission to find him. To understand where he was going with his Echuuuism. I'll admit, it really has my interests sparked." He then turned to face the masters in a quick motion. "Then the good stuff happened..." Havoc's mind begun playing the events that happened. Since they couldn't really see anything, he narrated his story to them. "And wouldn't you know it, a recording of Echuu popped up and said to me, "Havoc, find me." So that's what I did. I loaded up and followed his only clue that he left... Degobah. Though, suffering the same thing as Master Skywalker... the stupid fog clouded my sensors and I landed in worm crap... or for those of you with very virgin ears... a swamp." Rubbing his forehead a little, he continued on. "Unbested to me however, I ran into a pair of Dark Side Apparentices that were sparring... and quite pitifully I might add. Echuu should have taught them better..." Stopping himself, he got back on track. "So there went my quiet cover really. I formulated a plan with GP, and this happened right outside the temple too. They came pouring out and I guess the swamp caused GP to malfunction a little and his voice acting went wrong and blew our cover too soon... then that's when IT happened..." And Havoc looked at them... with an evil grin. Similiar to the feeling he had felt at the temple. "A voice... was tempting me. The Darkside was toying with me, and I acted. I allowed it to control me... just to understand the power. Then, I started seeing illusions. It projected to me my deepest desire... my darling wife..." Havoc paused for a second and cleared his voice. "I had let it fool me that I could bring her back. It whispered to me... Kill Jace... but even that would not do for the hunger of the Darkside." He jerked his thumb back. "That's when he showed up, I could sense him even as he landed... and I felt something in orbit... though I'm going to guess it was a New Republic ship, and that's where his reports come in." He then looked at Malius directly. "Spew all the ancient garbage you'd like, but times have changed. I allowed it to tempt me, I slaughtered those that looked to do me wrong... I even tried to take out HIM!" Pointing at Jace, shouting at the top of his lungs. "I wanted to test it's power! I let myself become controlled so I could better understand it!" Lowering his voice a little, he then shot his direction to Alies. "I did it, because holocrons and ancient scripters tell you nothing... now then, should I assume the position for being slapped on the wrist? Or might I as well hang myself over some lava pit?" He just continued to smirk.

| "Jedi Knight Jace Varitek, have you anything to add to the assement that Jedi Knight Havoc has made?" Malius turned his black beady eyes to the other Jedi Knight, that one that--for most of the conversation--seemed quiet, and even a little disconcerted with what he was doing. Could it be that Jedi Knight Jace Varitek was reluctantly giving into the true social order? That he thought what had happened to Havoc was doubtlessly evil; and that the Jedi Knight was bound by justice to turn him in, despite not wanting to do so. Oh what the Jedi Master wouldn't have given to peer into Jace Variteks soul for two minutes.

| Varitek did indeed believe that what "had happened" to Havoc was undoubtedly "evil," but with the important caveat that what had occurred was manifestly, and entirely, Havoc's own fault. The Jedi Knight's fealty to a friend would not accomodate a friend's deranged slaughter of the innocent, because he had a fealty to justice higher than to any friend. It was a simple proposition, as far as Varitek was concerned―no man, even a Jedi, is above the law―but it was a belief that did not endear him to his peers at the Academy, many of whom considered the Force as a sort of natural law unto itself, above the laws of men; they assigned to the Force certain traits, rules and principles of their own design, and substituted them for the conventions of society and morality that, in Varitek's view, the Jedi were bound to uphold. They were the sort to believe that a crystal could pass judgment on a man, rather than a gavel. So it was that many of his peers were inclined―shockingly―to disregard due process, and even disregard justice itself if it suited their ends. It was ironic, for an order that was ostensibly committed to peace and justice in the galaxy. Varitek had never known Kyp Durron well. He had seen him about the Academy on occasion and remembered him as being not terribly bright, but as with Havoc he had never suspected the man was capable of the crimes that he committed (his, in fact, were far worse than Havoc's, for Durron had killed millions while Havoc only dozens). When Durron was "forgiven" and set loose, Varitek had been unable to hide his dismay. His confidence in the order as an instrument of justice, and even of peace, had been severely shaken. But here, the Academy could redeem itself especially now that Master Skywalker was away. While Havoc's case was indeed different, Varitek's emotions were much the same, although complicated by the fact that Havoc―unlike Durron―had been something of a friend. He was apprehensive, of course, but friend or not there needed to be some justice for what Havoc had done. He had witnessed his fellow Jedi's murderous insanity firsthand, and if it could happen once it could happen again. That Havoc had deliberately allowed it to happen was even more disturbing. As with Durron, Varitek had little sympathy when the rule of law and the lives of innocent people were threatened. "I do not have anything to add to my report," he spoke solemnly, but confidently. "I cannot speak to the events that occurred before I arrived. All I can say is that the Havoc I encountered at Dagobah was a different person; a dangerous, tormented person, and if it can happen once I have to believe that he could well become that person again."

| Celise brushed a stray lock of hair from her face and waited quietly outside the Council Chambers, though being attuned with the Force she could easily feel both Varitek and Havoc's respective feelings. Her mind drifting over the sensations, she could feel that the matter was again due to Havoc's... chaotic? Nature. Frowning to herself she shot a sympathetic look into the Council Chambers at Malius and Alies again, before bringing her now mechanical, left arm up and appraising it critically. It was a reverse really of the mark her father had held. A lingering sentiment of the "love" their shared master had for her students it seemed.. Still. From what she could hear of Havoc's recent outburst, it seemed like he had indulged in the Dark side of the Force. This in itself was unacceptable. As a Redeemer, Celise was entirely committed to bringing a person back from the dark side, and assisting them in atoning for those crimes was in turn a natural part of her task. She studied it. She knew how it functioned through long hours of study. But she had not ever yet allowed herself to indulge in a blast of Force Lightning.. a choke of some random thug. These things were wrong on any day. Assault with a deadly weapon by living laws, and a crime against self in a spiritual sense. The atonement of such crimes was her task. The righting of wrongs her duty. Yet even Shinzon knew there were some crimes that in society, could never truly be forgiven. Atonement simply wasnt possible. But recompensation for the crimes was. It was a lesson that she had learned very brutally and swiftly in her training through the duel with Deimos. Deimos had threatened the people of Deralia. Her response? Eliminate the situation before innocent bystanders were harmed in another "Jedi War." She had strove to save Echuu. How could she not? He was her father. ...And yet unlike Luke and Vader.. such had proven to be impossible. So she had done the only thing that was left to her when he tried to drag her with him to his damnation. She had let him fall and removed her own left arm to save herself. The entire matter had been charged with emotion true enough.. but that was also why she had gone into seclusion on Hoth. The desire to regain and keep a complete emotional mastery, to put Order before Chaos, was the prime reason for her exile. What point would it of served if she'd used the Force as a weapon on someone who "rubbed her wrong" in the aftermath of that battle of wills? Was it justified? Maybe for a normal sentient, it could be talked down. But she was not a normal sentient. She was a Jedi. Thus the conventional laws of society bound her, and in the same classical catch, did not. She had to be stronger than the average sentient, because of the responsibility that her connection to the force had given her. The responsibility that the Force itself had given her. If the very tapestry of life was to hold her to such a calling as a Jedi. Then her existance would be weighed measured and be kept far more stringent. These were the very codes she held as sacred, and the oaths she had sworn to the Order. Uphold the law. Uphold the will of the Force. There was really nothing beyond those twin pillars of truth when one meditated it out. Durron... Varitek's thoughts betrayed him. Shaking her head silently as she waited, she thought heavily on Durron's case. At what point was it his evil that was manifest, and at which point was it Exar Kun's? In classic and contemporary law, brainwashed individuals were treated as much as victims as any puppet master. And yet in Durron's case.. millions had perished. Millions. The massacre her holocron master had told her of Teyr, was a sunday brunch compared to what Durron or perhaps Kun had contrived. Shaking her head she washed her hands of the matter of Durron. She had not been present. But Havoc on the other hand.. she had met him many a time and knew well of his.. urges. Celise shared Varitek's line of thought in that something needed to be done honestly before Havoc became the next Darwin. Maybe retraining. Maybe not. How did one get through to a maverick? Maybe some time spent with the Agricorps and serving others would mellow his mood. But then there was also the factor that he had indeed killed someone. Had it been done in defense? Varitek's feelings indicated that it was a nay. If it was defense, Shinzon could overlook it. But if it wasnt.. something would need to be done. Perhaps a criminal trial in the Republic they served, where the familys of the victims could levy their accusations on Havoc and sue for justice. It was the least that the Order could give the Republic, given the responsibility that they were charged with in that Government. Regardless he should have his Lightsaber confiscated for the present. If only to ensure another "accident" didnt occur while a investigation was launched.. There were mitigating circumstances and varying degrees of justice in the Galaxy. A evil being couldnt be saved by a judge that had no compassion or understanding. But in the same vocation the judge also had to ensure that true justice was achieved. Celise knew in her heart that she had become a hardliner. But this was because after the treachery of her father and master, she had to be. She could not accept anything less than perfection. In a classic twist of force spawned irony, the Jedi Redeemers had to be redeemed themselves by their last student.

| Luckily, Malius Ky-Nomi was not privy to the individuals notions of Jedi Knights, or perhaps unluckily. His inability to read minds meant he was clairvoyantly inept at understanding just what justice or honour dictated at this time. His only thought reflected on the very serious crime that had been committed, at least in his eyes. That Havoc had fallen to the darkside, and that the Jedi Master was not entirely convinced that he had returned to the light. While the stoic single minded understanding of the lightside was something Malius conveyed in all his students (and indeed would have praised young Celise Shinzon on) it was also that stoic and rigid stance with the lightside that had flawed her father, and which could undoubtedly cause her own fall again--provided her father lived of course. "Havoc," he whispered; his lips grating in a most grotesque manner as the scales rippled together. The sound was almost maddeningly deafening, but the force had no ears--and Malius was loved for it. "What are we to do with you. You slaughtered people," he refrained from calling them innocents. "A Jedi's first mandate is to use his lightsaber as his last resort, and to defend, not to attack. Your wanton destruction of that which is the force not only shows a clear and belligerent disregard for our oaths and our Order as a whole--but it shows the very foundations of failure that we have found in so many that have fallen. In this Darth Acheron for instance." Malius fell silent, his eyes fluttering shut as the ebbs of the force washed over him. He bathed in a moment of transient understanding, then let his scaled lips part for one last question. "Jedi Knight Jace Varitek... what conclusion have you surmised through the entire campaign that you have been a part of. By this, I mean what method of atonement do you--evaluating the psychological conditioning and societal understanding--thing would best be suited for this particular purpose?" His eyes drifted back to the Jedi Knight. As the man whom had brought his friend to justice, Jace Varitek was not immune from Malius' observations. After all, even if you bring a man to justice, do you have the stomach to swing the axe?

| "A Jedi's first mandate, master, is to keep the peace." Havoc spoke in a bluntly, disrespectful manner. He took a step forward and made direct eye contact with Malius. "So allow me to set you up in this senario. It's moist out, cloudy, no sunlight, no clouds... just a oversized fog." He begun to set up the scene of Degobah. "Your life is suddenly threatened by sith apprentices. They charge at you with the intent to kill. Do you just allow them to disrupt the peace and walk all over you?" Crossing his arms. "Or do you defend yourself." He shook his head. "As Obi-Wan said once before, this weapon is your life!" Taking hold of his lightsaber, he presented it to everyone. It was the same blade that he been used in his symbolic deeds, and it was at one point, Varitek's enemy. "You expect me to stand here and simply take your garbage about how the lightsaber should be used last? No!" Havoc placed the weapon back upon his belt and crossed his arms once more. "I will defend myself by any means needed. And if that means I have to slaughter a beehive, just so that people will not be tormented by these... sith down the road? Then I will do it." Facing back, he looked at Varitek once more. "Your reports were as empty, but yet truthful as ever." That was all he had to say, then spun to face the masters. "My 'friend' behind me speaks that it will happen again. And you all think that it will too... don't you?" The question was out there. "I have tasted it for myself... just as Echuu has. But unlike him, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth... it's almost like eating you... Master Ky-Nomi." Rubbing the back of his head. "I say I have become more powerful in resisting it then ever... though it will not change my ways. I am and will continue to act as I will please. The force will guild me, because it adapts to a person's unique character..." Again he spun around to Jace. "You must of missed that class." Then he turned to the door, where he got a hint that someone was there. "I'm sure our audiance out there will agree that some sort of punishment will be suitable. But what do you have? This isn't the first time I've been in trouble before. And like fools, you all through your heavy hitters at me. What else is left? Stick me in the Corps? You're all better off having me infilitrate something. Because I will refuse to use my power to make some flower grow... or to heal the sick that some medic can do on their own." Shutting his eyes, he reflected upon the Dark times. "The Clones no longer assist us... nor have they ever..."

| "Did I miss the class on desecrating corpses? I don't think they taught that in self defense," Varitek sniped back at once, unusual for his characteristically calm demeanor, but Havoc's unrepetance—and his ingratitude to the person who had dragged his unconscious, self-mutilated body out of certain death in that temple as it imploded around them—irritated the Jedi Knight, even one as temperate as Varitek. This is perhaps why, distracted, he did not notice Celise sensing his feelings, which he would normally so closely protect, nor indeed was he yet aware of her presence outside the chamber. He sighed, and gathered himself as he glanced to Malius. "It is not my place to judge, Master Ky-Nomi," he said earnestly, "I am not as learned as the Council in such things, and nor do I pretend to know what Havoc's punishment should or should not be, as Havoc himself seems to." Varitek appeared to realize, at that moment, that his last comment at Havoc's expense had been, perhaps, small of him, and so retreated back into silence.

| A light chortled left Malius' lips (which altogether sounded horrendous, but then, so did everything) and he let his eyes waver for a fraction of a moment towards the door. So the two, even now, were at each others throats. Yet it was evident that the temperamental and hot-headed Havoc was beginning to rub off on the calm and calculative Jace Varitek. Malius was reflective, the silence nearly audible within the room. It dragged on and on, until it seemed that the great Master Jedi had fallen asleep, or entered into some deep meditation. Then it was Raztlain who would break the silence; not with words, but with movement. His left hand gestured outward, his head bowing down in humility as he allowed Malius to pass the judgment that the two had agreed upon. Malius' face turned from reflective to determinate, and his lips pursed in clear disgust for what he was about to say. He wanted to see the best of the situation, the best of Havoc; but the Force, and the teachings of the force prohibited his views in a similar fashion as did Jace Variteks peculiar fondness for the laws of the Republic. Yet Malius' mind would reflect one last time upon Celise Denowai, now Shinzon, and what judgment she would pass. After all, she was a Jedi Redeemer, and she was affixed to the idea of redemption--though her folly was her adoration for the lightside (an adoration that Malius shared of course). "Jedi Knight Havoc... It is with pain that I can not allow you to retain your lightsaber. Built by you, the thing is a piece of you, and you of it--therefore the Council will permit you to destroy your saber. You have missed the tenets of the Jedi Code. You are correct that Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi did speak of the lightsaber as the life of a Jedi--but you missed the context of the speech. Master Kenobi did not state that the lightsaber is the strength of the Jedi, nor did he state that it was the only means of a Jedi. The lightsaber is our symbolic gift. That we represent an order that operates under clean pretenses. We do not use weapons as traditional soldiers do, but we carry around weapons that are meant for our self defense as a last result. More importantly, that the lightsaber is not a tool for slaughter, but a tool for defense. These people may have threatened your life, but by you own admonition you have clearly stated you 'slaughtered' them; which condemns you not to acting in self defense, but to acting in aggression, and to anger. To acting in those things that the Jedi Order does not stand for. Death resulting in defense is a sad thing for a Jedi, but slaughter is a precarious thing, something of the Sith and not the Jedi. We are not dictators. We do not pass swift judgment. We are not executioners and all you have proven this day is that you are capable of taking life, and not so capable of granting it. You are not stripped of your rank of Jedi Knight, for that decision is not something that can be reversed in my judgment. You will however report yourselves to the Republic military courts and ask to be tried in a court martial for acting in defiance to your tenets and mandates as a Jedi Knight. Should the Republic Military Courts grant it, Jedi liaisons will be present to help the advisors of the tribunal understand just what it means for a Jedi to have performed these actions. Furthermore, and until further notice, you are banned from the creating of a lightsaber until you have undergone a series of evaluation tests to ensure your redemption. Until then, this is all the Council will state. May the force have mercy on your soul. What say you to these charges and punishments?"
