From Lucasfilm to Disney.. is it bad that I consider this a downgrade?

Also, ugh, please just let Star Wars be..

Appropriate here too.

It'll be heartwarming, lots of lovable characters, and fun for all the family.

I think this wraps it up. I'm back off to my roots in Lord of the Rings RP, where I can be lauded by an innovator for inventing the Crossbow and playing the Lute is appreciated. Oh and where the Steward of the franchise is a remotely capable director.

There's actually a Lord of the Ring RP? I've been looking for one for a long time.

You know... being the eternal optimist, who knows... it might end up better than Episode I? For Disney, that's a pretty high bar though... Jar-Jar will probably become some messiah to the universe.

Because it turned out so well when he had another 'hands off' movie project.

Or Clone Wars the Movie.

Like sure, we've established Lucas can't do Star Wars - certainly not write Star Wars anyway; so leave it. Lucas needed someone on his shoulder remind him he was mortal; without this he became 21st Century Lucas.

He's "passed on the stewardship" of the rights to a company which shamelessly merchandises and builds films around merchandising opportunities. Thank heavens he has retired away from Star Wars, but I'm unconvinced whether Disney will do any better. Unless they got Gary Kurtz in (Producer of the first two films), and a few more of the original creators.

You know what, I don't want to see an aging Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fischer or Billy Dee Williams fighting Droids or Clones.

Equally, I don't want to see the Franchise "Re-imagined" with continuity issues surrounding new characters.

Theres a hell of a lot of great Scifi out there not made into films. And a hell of a lot of aspirant scriptwriters. I'd honestly like to see fresh new scifi get made, in innovative and thought provoking settings that can grow into something like Star Wars.

Instead, everything is stifled by running franchises into the ground, tired film after film, sequel, remake, reimagining, prequel etc just end up making people (eventually, it does take time) lose interest in the Franchise. This is step 1 towards a star wars remake.

You know what, Star Wars was a product of it's time, and a parable for various 20th century political and military events. I appreciate people may wish to "keep it in the modern world" by re-structuring plots to fit it; but the fact remains, they don't turn out well (in most cases) when they do so.

Da Vinci didn't repaint the Mona Lisa every few years to represent the fashions of the time, and then sell the rights to keep repainting on to the next owner. Art is always a product of it's time, and accepting something as being done is something Lucas just isn't good at. I liked Star Wars, I was disappointed by the Prequels, Indiana Jones and the Clone Wars film etc...

Maybe I'll be wrong, maybe they'll do it well. Sadly, I fear it may well just end up with a pseudo-christopher nolan feel or be more of the same as the prequels.

Woo. More generic dark scifi, more prequels.

Maybe episode 7 will be good, I mean when disney bought marvel, I was prepared to have seen Iron Man Mickey Mouse and such. But I like the past 3 Marvel films. Not counting spiderman because I don't like him.
