Senator, I mean Governor Oswaldt; I make it a point not to become familiar with a person such as you. In your eyes, you have never done anything wrong; in others I am sure you are not that perfect. There is nothing wrong in admitting your faults and that you have made poor, unwise decisions in your life. No one is perfect not even you.

This committee will result in witch hunts. I truly feel it is being created to persecute those who are not mindless drones and think for themselves. Garos will always be against the creation of a committee whose only purpose is to make a few elite members more powerful and feel better about themselves while putting others down and dragging their names through the mud because they can.

Ja'nar Cerra

Acting Senator to the Republic, Garos IV

Anobis has nothing to hide, We are a planet renown for our mining skills, supplies and our rich ore's that we ship all across the galaxy. I've spoken to The newly formed triumvirate on Anobis uniting each side of our fine world together to run the planet. Of course at the head of the office is some one most of you might know, Former Senator Fabio Riada. Anyways, they all put it to a vote and thought this was a fine idea. So, as long as the emperor chooses a loyal senator to be the chair, we vote in Favor.

Slai-Fon Youngblood, Senator of Anobis, and the Bright Jewel sector
Chairman of ISEC (Imperial Senate Ethic's Committee.)
Chairman & CEO of K/Y deep.

~Jo didn't pay much attention as Janar was talking his senate pod happened to drift above and behind hers, his gaze settled desiringly on the senator and before he knew it she was done talking and so was Slai Fon. Jo cleared his throat and spoke~ Of course I didnt mean to question the Emperors judgement. I take the chair's point.. I edited the bill but I still hope the Emperor will consider me for the job, I think i've shown why the committee is needed and why I'm the best man for it.. either way, Senators, please notice that Janar isnt just voting against me but against the whole idea of an Ethics Commitee. I want to see Senators like Zarcaine and Tremaine walk the talk and show that they support the Ethics COmmittee unlike Janar, now that the boogeyman (aka. me apparently) isnt part of the bill. or else everything I said about them having something to hide is true

With the edit that Governor Oswaldt has so graciously done, despite his desire to head the committee himself, Chandrila votes in favor.

Governor, I do hope that you are fairly considered alongside your peers, and I wish you well in the matter.

Druckenwell is in favor of the modified proposal and heavily in favor of an Ethics Committee.

We are still opposed to the North Amendment.

Quote (LordZarcaine)
While I would be in an agreement to vote for such a committee, I would only do so if a more proper chairman be nominated other than Senator Oswaldt. Until such a time the Cronese Mandate will vote against this measure.

Now that I'm not part of the bill anymore but Senator Zarcaine is refusing to change his vote I move his vote be disqualified. Everything I said is true.. he's obviously against ethics just like Senator Cerra and voting against the bill is a obvious conflict of interest because Senator Oriel refered the censure of Senator Zarcaine to the ethics committee when its approved. Unless he articluates another reason he's voting against it, its an obvious conflict of interest and his vote should be stricken from the record

Does the Senator from the Cronese Mandate wish to rectify this?

The Cronese Mandate will vote for an Ethics Committee, however the Cronese Mandate will stand against the proposed amendment by Senator North. There are those in my own cabinet however that have voiced their concern, including the example above, that they have believe if the wrong person is the chair of this ethics committee would turn it into a sham and lead a witch hunt against specific Senators that will not be named. While the Cronese Mandate will vote yes for this committee, we are still hesitant in the appointment of a chair person that can not be neutral in their decision.

Hey Zarcaine, think you would be a good chairman of the Ethics committee in your opinion? Simple question

Added (27 Jun 2011, 11:37 PM)
---------------------------------------------
And for the record I havent included the North amendment. Bob, your a good man and I like the amendment but the Senate's not going to have it. I dont really mind though if its a committee or a sub-committee as long as theres an ethics panel to keep Crionism out of the senate and make sure we're all examples that the children of the EMpire can look up to. I know I am

Senator Kuriyoshi, you are of course under no obligation to answer the Governor's question. If you don't intend to, however, the vote is closed and the measure passes with 91% in favor and a mere 9% opposed, with Senator Cerra the only notable vote among those opposed. There is, I suppose, a misguided minority on the fringe of every issue. Even ethics. But it's my personal opinion that the people of Garos IV should take note of their Senator's opposition to the concept of ethical conduct for public officials. This comes as no surprise to some of us, but will, perhaps, to Garosians. But let us move on.

I will announce His Majesty's decision as to the chair of the Ethics Committee as soon as the Ruling Council has had the opportunity to convene on the issue.
