| I propose a Ethics COmmittee to assure the good conduct of Senators, recommend censures or suspensions if necesary, and act as a "fact checking" body that Senators can appeal to. I also propose I be the chairman and I vote in favor
Johannes Oswaldt Senator and Governor of Eriadu

| While I would be in an agreement to vote for such a committee, I would only do so if a more proper chairman be nominated other than Senator Oswaldt. Until such a time the Cronese Mandate will vote against this measure.

| Surprise surprise, Senator Zarcaine is against ethics. Whats wrong with me as chairman? I for one havent been censured, and Ive never committed a crime in my life.. (despite what they say on Zeltros, I dont consider fervent, rigorous, unwilling intercourse a "crime"). I served in the REpublic Navy and the Imperial Navy sir. We have a code of honor.. "Loyalty, Fealty, Fidelity." I was in the Subadult Scouts too. oh but no.. you know all about me just because you disagree with me. Get over it and vote for the bill, Zarcaine. The senate needs an Ethics Committee to keep the reprobates in line

| I've never once said I was against Ethics, nor did I ever say that I knew a single thing about you. Yet thank you for feeling it needed to lay out your life before all the Senators in the Senate chamber just to try and find those that would favor you for the chair of such a Committee. As you could see, I said I would be for such a Committee, should it be chair by an individual that is capable of remaining neutral in their duty, neither leaning Pro-Imperial or Anti-Imperial in their regards, or decisions. Yes, it is true that I do disagree with you on a many number of things, yet I believe that a Committee such as what you have proposed should be one of neutrality in their decision making, and until such, the vote from the Cronese Mandate will remain the same as a Vote against.

| To prove I can be "neutral" I'm going to pretend I didnt hear what you just said that the head of the ethics committee "must not be pro-Imperial". In case you forgot, we're Imperial senators.. thats our job. We've all sworn oaths to the EMpire and it pays our salary. We're all "pro-Imperial", and if theres someone here who's "anti-Imperial" it just shows how much we need this Ethics Committee.. to make sure Senators are keeping their word and living up to the oath they swore. If theres some reason why I'm not "capable" of this, I havent heard it. All I heard so far is you dont agree with me, well so what. if you have nothing to hide from an Ethics Committee you should vote in favor of it and me as chairman. I'm a law and order man, Ive never taken a bribe and I dont give special treatment to anyone. And why shouldnt Eriadu, the Coruscant of the Outer RIm ,be represented on [b]any[/i] senate committees? Besides, its not a "one man committee" anyway.. I just want to be chairman so I can give the members the moral guidance they need. Thats the struggle of our time: not "pro-Imperial" vs" Anti-Imperial" but the forces of order vs the forces of chaos and cronyism and Crionism that I want to stand against in this Senate

| The legislation here actually covers part of the duty of the Oversight Committee, which already exists and is chaired by myself. To explain recent events, normally, the Oversight Committee would set up investigations and give recommendations, however the Senate has, so far, already done so on its own. This lack of need of prodding strokes pride into one's self. If the Senator may be open to an amendment, I would like to propose the following.
The North Amendment I. The Oversight Committee shall officially establish an Ethics Sub-committee, with Senator Johannes Oswaldt of Eriadu as it's Chair. Senator Oswaldt shall also immediately assume the position of Senior Member on the Oversight Committee.
II. Senators representing Outer Rim sector capital worlds with populations of 22 billion or higher, as well as the Senator of Imperial Center, shall receive a 30% pay increase effective immediately.
The Honorable R.C.W. North Senator of Imperial Center Chairman of the Internal Activities Committee Mayor of the Galactic/Imperial City (22 BBY-18 BBY)

| I heartily approve the creation of an Ethics Sub-committee. I believe that the Senate must be kept on a straight and narrow path of honesty and duty.
However, I cannot, in good conscience, place the Governor of Eriadu in charge. The Governor is well-versed in the military and served honorably; true. I have no doubt he governs his world as best as possible and ensures it is productive.
The good Governor, however, is blatantly speciest and sexist; two things that cannot coexist as a chairman of an ethics committee. I will place more faith in a different candidate who has less of such tendencies; going so far as to nominate myself if need be.
I cannot vote for the North Amendment either, for I do not support Governor Oswaldt as chairman, and there is no need for Senators to receive a pay raise. If the Outer Rim senators receive a pay raise, all senators should receive one.
Until then, opposed.
Lomen Ryuun Senator, Doldur Sector Senator, Druckenwell Representative, Monor II (10 BBY - 9 BBY) Representative, Geridard Representative, Boranall Representative, Therenor Prime Vice-chairman, Defense Committee (Temporarily suspended) Controlling Shareholder - Druckenwell Arms Corporation

| I am in support of an Ethic Sub-committee, and I am also in support of Senate Ethics Committee. The problem is I cannot vote in favor for as long as Senator Oswaldt is going to be its chairperson. I believe senators Ryuun and Zarcaine is correct. While Senator Oswaldt may have met the standards in running a world, his characteristics displayed cannot be conducted as an Ethic Chairperson. I believe we don't need a "Crionist" Senator, or someone that's sexist and speciest. We need someone completely neutral so everything may be put in perspective should a particular circumstance arise. I will, however, propose that Senator Ryuun be the Chairperson of the Committee...or Sub-committee.

| Chandrilia will also not be voting in favor is Governor Oswaldt is heading the committee. Also, in agreeance with Senator Fowlkes, Kuriyoshi, and Ryuun, Senator Norths ammendments are unacceptable.
Are you gentlemen aware of the definition of ethics?

| I am aware of ethics, which is why I am the Chairman of the Oversight Committee, Senator Thanatos. Senator Oswaldt may hold personal views that are speciest or sexist, this I will admit, but these personal views and opinions, that Senators Kuriyoshi, Fowlkes, and Thanatos have recently touted as an inalienable right of a Senator, should not be held against a man in consideration for a position which has the chief responsibility of routing out corruption, which requires one who is patriotic and dedicated. Senator Oswaldt embodies both, and we have discussed this matter personally several times. Johannes is the only man I would trust in this position.
I find this opposition movement that has popped up, filled with contradictions. The head of this Committee/Sub-committee must be an Imperial Senator, but not one who supports the Empire. We can have our opinions and personal beliefs, and you shouldn't judge us for it, but you can't have them, and we will judge you for them. We want our military to protect us, but we want to create an extra-judicial committee of civilians to oversee them and judge every action they ever take, nevermind the venerable Senator Veritas and his Committee or their very existence. We should be able to claim, with no evidence, that the Imperial military is killing civilians in the streets and bombing cities from orbit, but you shouldn't be able to call me out on it or attempt to punish me for it.
Seriously Senators, have you all gone mad? Look at yourselves, look at the recent debates. Is there some mental illness that is contagious in the Senate? Please, let us know so we can begin proper procedures to stop such an infection. Senator Thanatos, you have been a voice of reason since you entered the Senate, a welcome diversion from Mon Mothma... now you sound just like her. Senator Fowlked, you fought in the Clone Wars, you are a veteran who served the Empire in war and know how the military operates... why are now bashing the very institution you proudly served and turning against the government you swore an oath to? Senator Kuriyoshi, I do not know you as well, but the Empire gave your government life; it separated you from the Tion Hegemony and gave your people sovereignty and freedom... is this the repayment the very same government deserves, in form of your brutal, victory-at-all-costs political crusade against it?
The Honorable R.C.W. North Senator of Imperial Center Chairman of the Internal Activities Committee Mayor of the Galactic/Imperial City (22 BBY-18 BBY)

| Well said, Senator. I've been in this senate awhile but its the pettiness that surprises me most about this. I still havent heard a reason to oppose me except Zarcaine and the rest dont agree with me.. as if they have a right to have everyone agree with them. "speciesist"? "sexist"? How am I "sexist"? I love women. If Im guilty of anything its loving women too much (yes, sometimes literally).. but I've never said anything "sexist" before. And how am I "speciesist"? Have I said anything about aliens that isnt Imperial policy? Sorry I'm not a misanthrope like so many humans in this Senate and i'm not going to pretend to be one. I'm a man of principle.. I stand by my principles and oaths, and thats what the Ethics Committee needs.
And Senator THanatos this is exactly what I'm talking about.. Ive been nothing but courteous and dashing to you all this time and what do I get? Hurtful sarcasm. Yes I do know what ethics is.. and I know that ethics change with the times and the times are changing. it was okay once for murderous monks to spy on children and kidnap them and command our armies too, not anymore.. it was okay for Senators to vote according to the will of the wallet instead of the wil of the people, not anymore.. and it was okay to not even talk about aliens because someone will be "offended" or someone will "disagree", well not anymore. This is a New Order.. the times are changing and your all being left behind. The least you can do is get out of the way and be gracefully forgotton by history

| Senator North, the Empire did not give those in the Cronese Mandate any more, or any less freedom or independence that they already had while the Tion Cluster was a single entity, compared to the now split Cronese Mandate, Tion Hegemony, and Allied Tion Sector.
As for the questions brought up by Senator Oswaldt on how he is speciesist, and sexist. I would like to remind the Senator of two bills, one of which he proposed and one of which he voted in favor of. The speciesist Elimination of Health Benefits for Non-Human Senators, as well as the Prohibition on Alcohol for Female Humans, both acts that you have had dealings with. One that is Speciesist, and the other which is highly Sexist.

| Senator Zarcaine, what do those two points of argument or those two pieces of legislation have to do with Senate Ethics?

| I am hurt, Senator North. Hurt and deeply disturbed that because I once feel strongly enough to oppose you and Governor Oswaldt, you liken me to a traitor who is on the run. I am nothing like her, nor will I ever be. If I were to oppose the Emperor's rule and law so completely as she did, then you would be able to make that comparison, but until that day, you are completely out of line.
I apologize for offending you, Governor. You are absolutely correct, you have been nothing but courteous and dashing since I arrived on Imperial Center. Not to mention your mustache is just stunning. That being said, since this is a matter of ethics, I cannot ethically vote in favor of you being in charge of this committee. I would hate to see the people of Eriadu go neglected because you are too busy.
Though, the formation of such a committee is a very good idea, that, Chandrila will vote in favor of.
Ilanah R. Thanatos Senator of Chandrila

| I have been absent for awhile and I may not have my information correct for the aides I have assigned to wade through this but I truly feel that this proposal is a joke. I find it humorous that the most unethical people within this chambers wishes to create an Ethics Committee to make sure that everyone is behaving. Perhaps you should first look at yourselves before you start to look to others for faults.
Garos IV votes against this proposal.
