Has Mr Fowlkes read the arguments made? You appear not to have heard them, this is not just an act to encourage literacy but to spread literature... Thus holo books are the perfect tool. I am astonished to see Senator Fowlkes acting in such a callous, uncaring and miserly manner as to deny the poor access to reading material.

This is an act to boost the standard of living for the Vjunite people... It would not make any sense to have multi world contract bidding, thus can you explain your position with more clarity?

Sparing myself from becoming involved in what seems to be an ongoing rivalry between the "Core" male Senators and Senator Cerra, I must concede to some points of contention raised. While I do support the use of the "teknikreader", at least for the pilot program, preferring a bid for the primary product should this program launch in full, I would like to see a literacy education plan included as well as a simple explanation as to why the "Senator Ordan Benevolent Emigration Fund" is named as such?

Although not addressed in an appropriate manner, lack of literacy is a problem throughout the lower class of the galaxy, in the Outer Rim especially. The opposition does have a point in their arguement, however crassly presented, that literacy, for a supermajority of those whom are illiterate, is not going to be taught by merely presenting a holoreader to an individual. They may read it all they like, but it will just not make sense. If we enact such legislation, we must ensure that we do so right... and all contribute intelligent debate, not merely sling insults at one another when much larger issues are at hand; especially when one wants to change a piece of legislation for the better or convince another otherwise.

The Senator Ordan Benevolent Emigration fund was established by Act of Senate and deals with funding resettlement of the Aeeqi remnant and refugees more generally. It is named as such because it was founded by Senator Ordan.

I hasten to add, these readers are intended to be placed in centralised locations (such as COMPNOR offices) to be used in classes and education as well as to be rented (at tiny cost) to those who would like to use one at home and so have access to literature. Thus the device is multifunctional in that it can run specifically educational programs (in addition to holonet browsing and books) meaning cheap basic education is on offer, alongside sharing literature with the people of the Empire.

Again, reading the Act would help. I am not suggesting these readers be tossed out into the street in poor areas - rather distributed by charity and COMPNOR where they are wanted and useful - and will produce the most benefit.

The measure passes with 67% in favor and 33% opposed. And the Senator from Garos IV is called to order for her gratuitous remarks to Senator Ordan. Remember, Senator Cerra, the Senate has censured you for this before and if this conduct persists the chair must consider suspension or expulsion from the Senate. I would suggest to you, Madam, that you're poorly-serving your people by making them famous for the antics of their Senator. Please comport yourself in a more womanly manner.
