Gentlebeings of the Senate, some of you know of me. I am Prime Minister J'cep S'nar of Argazda and I ask leave to speak of a matter most disturbing within the Kanz Sector.

Prime Minister, Argazda

Many thanks, Chairman.

As some of you may be aware, the mining operations at Destrando City on Slovo in the Ereesus Sector have been suspended due to a conflict between Argazdan and Lorrdian mining guilds. It would seem that the Lorrdians, ever eager to gain the upper hand over the Argazdans, have been caught red-handed shipping small arms and high explosives to their embattled miners on Destrando City. The Argazdan forces sent there to mediate the dispute have destroyed these munitions-carrying vessels and even now, Argazda plans to step in to restore productivity and order.

I ask that the senate query the Lorrdian representative as to why he is sending weapons of such extreme power to try and slay the Argazdan miners who are only defending their lives and work.

Prime Minister, Argazda

I'd like to inquire as to where you received this information, Prime Minister. Lorrd has never sent arms or munitions to Argazda. There was a convoy sent not long ago containing food and mining supplies to our people and nothing more. I have the manifests to prove as much. The fact that you have destroyed peaceful, unarmed freighters without so much as a 'by your leave' disturbs me greatly. I call upon the Senate for their opinion to resolve this matter before more Lorrdian lives are lost.

Before any type of accusation is made against the Representative of Lorrd, perhaps some detailed accounts could be provided for the Senate's viewing in order to ensure that the right course of action can be taken. If what you say is true, then manifests or something proving these weapons will need to come to light... provided that there is proof.

An excellent point, Senator Ray, and one I am prepared to bring into being here. I have with me, ready for transmission to your datapads, a copy of the scans taken by the bulk cruiser Wallow of the Lorrdian convoy of bulk freighters. As you can plainly see, while a number hold what the Lorrdian Representative states they do, one clearly holds energy signatures indicative of the type and number for several hundred weapons, not to mention a trio of proton torpedoes!

I have the manifest for the convoy in question, Prime Minister, coupled with accounts that can be retrieved from the loading crews and workers, that seem not to match your testimony on Lorrd carrying weapons to the miners. This isn't to say such isn't possible, but if, and I stress that if such happened, it was not with the consent of the government. Our policy towards the mining guild war on Destrando City has been one of unarmed intervention in which food and supplies are shipped there. There are families there, Prime Minister, and I will not see Lorrdians starved for the sake of a fight. However, we have never condoned sending weapons.

Of course you'd say you didn't send weapons! You just don't like that you've been caught in a lie! Gentlebeings of this knowledgeable Senate, I call upon you for your thoughts and aid in mediating this treachery. I tell you though, Stark, Argazda will not leave its people on Destrando City undefended. I call upon any within this chamber with a sense of decency and moral fiber to aid the poor Argazdan miners of Destrando City in whatever way you can.

Prime Minister, Argazda

Gentlemen, I'm sure the chamber sympathizes with the plight of the embattled miners. However, from the news reports, there is still no clear case of who fired the first shot; who began all this fighting that has led to needless loss of life. We may never even know. However, it seems that landing troops is simply a form of escalation. Furthermore, your claim states that your vessel scanned for and located weapons aboard a Lorrdian convoy carrying foodstuffs, and you have the scans that back it up. However, Representative Stark's manifests show that there is no list of weapons aboard the freighters. I am a little concerned as to why you destroyed these freighters, leaving no Lorrdian personnel alive who could actually state any claims otherwise, save for the dock crews who loaded the ships.

Mr. Snar, are you completely unwilling to even take Mr. Stark's words into consideration? Will you not even look at the ships manifests? Knowing what I do about Mr. Stark, I trust that he is being truthful. Has he once during this conversation levied a threat of violence against your people? No. Unfortunately, you have by destroying vessels that you simply believed to be holding arms, leaving nothing behind to investigate.

I do hope that you will take the time to see reason and not allow history to repeat itself.

Senator Thanatos, the scans from my ship do not lie. I could stand here and look at the manifests he presents and that proves nothing. Manifests and be falsified. And why would he need to levy threats against Argazda? Lorrdians bear us no good will for the transgressions of the past. Representative Stark is a notorious arms dealer; a veritable merchant of death. What are a few Argazdan lives to him?

And history repeating itself? Senator Thanatos, are you implying that Argazda would once more attempt to enslave Lorrd? That's a rather racist comment, at least from where I'm standing.

Prime Minister, Argazda

She's implying nothing of the sort, Prime Minister, at least not from what I can tell. I will ask you to remove your troops and warships from Destrando City. You are more than free to deploy aide and food, or attempt to sort out this fight, but armed attack parties will do nothing but escalate this conflict.

He is quite correct Mr. Snar. Thank you, very much, Mr. Stark.

The problem with -your- scans is that now there is no proof since you destroyed it.

Mr. Snar, in the interest of all fairness... how often are your ships maintained?

Senator Ray, our ships are given sensor maintenance every three months to ensure the equipment is functioning properly. This was no scan error.

Senator Thanatos, perhaps if the Lorrdians had not tried to run with their deadly cargo, there would be proof. Should I have let them go to deliver their weapons? Would you condone mass Argazdan deaths?
