The YT-1300 light freighter was attempting to evade a IPV-1 System Patrol Craft. The Jedi had seen a lot of them during the Clone Wars, they're really good at defending planets against smaller ships. They're a prize to those who owns them, a pain in the butt to their opponents. Somehow the Empire got the tip that there was a Jedi on Rodia, and eventually that led to the chase. Darwin had a lot of experience for flying in space combat, but no one else could use the turrets to shoot back as good as the Jedi. Kaylie was just starting to learn how to use blasters, and Artie shoot like a droid. Of course, that wasn't surprising and he isn't a combat droid though he could be handy in a lot of combat situations. Kaylie and Artie had to work together and pilot the ship, usually that is a bad sign. They don't get along well, and that's what would happen on this particular escapade.

While Kaylie and Artie worked on pulling off moves, Darwin had to use the turrets and keep on shooting the patrol craft. They continued on evading until they were clear to enter into hyperspace. Kaylie and Artie had dialed in the coordinates to a planet called Wor Tandell of the Dolomar Sector, located in the Core Worlds. They've been keeping in touch with a contact there, and were hoping he would help them lay low for a while. The crew managed to evade most of the shots coming from the pain-in-the-butt craft, but that was about to change. Right before they were about to hit the hyperspace, the engines were hit. Actually, right in the process of entering into hyperspace. The freighter still managed to enter the hyperspace, which got Darwin feeling relieved. Apparently, the hit wasn't critical so the crew decided to ignore it. It wasn't until they entered the Expansion Region via hyperspace travel that an alarm went blaring throughout the ship.

The freighter dropped out of hyperspace all of sudden. Darwin sat up, and looked at Kaylie then looked at the console. "Looks like the hyperdrive were leaking and had to shut itself down! The engines are failing!" The Jedi may be able to use the Force at will, but not even the Force could save them from the trouble they're starting to have. "Where are we at the moment?"

"No Artie....I'll fly...you put in the coordinates!" She snapped at the droid. No, they did not get along well most times, and in a stressful situation it was worse. "Why? Oh...the beer can without opposable thumbs wants to know why!" Kaylie rolled her eyes as she re-focused on the task at hand. Thanks to her modifications to the ship, it handled better, but it still needed a lot of work. The ship didn't have as much power as she wanted, but since parts weren't abundant out there, she couldn't just work on it at the drop of a hat.

Kaylie felt a shudder tear through the ship after she made the jump to hyperspace. "What the he..." She murmured as she set the auto pilot and started scanning the ship. Engines. Kaylie frowned and got to her feet. A moment later another shudder rocked the ship and the blueness of hyperspace dimmed and the alarms blared in the cockpit of the ship. "Really?!" Kaylie yelled at Artie's bleeping that something was obviously wrong with the engines. "You think?" She started out of the cockpit and ran right into Dar. "I know....I know....we're over uhm.....Artie can tell you." She didn't know, as she hadn't looked. Kaylie pushed past him and made her way back to the engine room to see if she could at least salvage something.

When she got there, the damage was bad enough that she pretty much knew there wasn't anything she could do about it....but that didn't stop her from trying.

Darwin would let out a heavy sigh, showing a sign of frustration. He saw Kaylie take off for the engine room, the Jedi immediately rushed over and sat down on the pilot chair. "Where the hell are we, Artie?" The astromech beeped rapidly in binary, telling Darwin to take a look at the console. He did so, and it indicated that they're approaching a planet by the name of Vendaxa. Since Kaylie is so preoccupied with fixing the engines, it was up to Darwin to work with Artie in piloting the ship effectively. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Every moment that passes, the less of a chance they'd be able to get the ship up and running. Because of that, once again, the engines are failing and Vendaxa's planetary gravity is pulling the YT-1300 toward the surface. He shouted back to Kaylie, "The ship's really gaining speed! It's starting to burn up!" All of sudden, the speed has really picked up within moments just as he could feel the heat that were engulfing the entire ship. They were passing through the atmosphere of Vendaxa. "Artie, do your best to slow the speed down. I'll see if I can try to land this thing without crashing." The Jedi began to grab ahold of the controls, and tries to keep the ship level headed for the moment just as the ship was descending rather quickly.

Kaylie paid no attention to Darwin's frustration, as she was frustrated on her own. The engine room was a hopeless mess. It looked as though it had been nearly torn apart by space monkeys. After several lingering moments of trying to at least find where the problem was, Kaylie gave in. Just as Darwin was hollering to her about what was going on, she was hollering back. "Dar there isn't anything I can do in here!" She yelled as she headed back to the cockpit. At least the fire in the engine room was out. That was the one thing that she could do.

Her gaze went to Dar, who was struggling with the controls, and Artie who was attempting to find a way to slow the ship. "Dar....uh...." She made the mistake of looking out the front view port. Immediately, Kay dropped into the copilots seat and started looking at the flickering console screens. "Landing in a marshland would be best...." She murmured. It was inevitable at that point.

The Jedi looked at his girlfriend, "You better be right. Otherwise, we won't be alive after the crash landing." He wasn't exaggerating, he knew they would crash. That's a fact. The only thing that they could control is to minimize the damage as much as possible as to avoid getting themselves killed. For that reason alone, Darwin kept trying to keep the ship level-headed. "Vendaxa isn't a well known planet, so I'm not sure if they have marshlands. Let's hope for the best." Artie was doing his best to slow the ship down, it didn't make much difference.

They went through the atmosphere, and was heading for the surface. There was an ocean, there were also jungles and plains. Darwin wanted to go for the sandy beach by the ocean where it's the safest, but he couldn't. The engines had already failed long before they approached the surface. They were heading for an area where the jungle were inhibiting the area. The next moment, the ship went through a whole bunch of trees. He would both feel and hear all the banging and bumping. It was the beating the ship took.

Finally, the ship crashed onto the ground. They didn't crash the tip of the ship. Rather, Darwin crashed the left side of the ship, before getting the ship stuck on the ground. The Jedi had been knocked out cold because he took a beating from the crash as well.

She nodded. "Yes, marshlands....softer than solid ground....not quite as much risk of drowning....you know....I shouldn't have to be explaining this!" She said as the screens flickered off. Kaylie had barely gotten her safety harness on before Darwin hit the treeline. She winced and turned her gaze away from the viewport before the ship impacted with the ground. As the impact occurred, her head whipped back and she cracked it against the headrest of the seat.

As the ship finally skidded to a smoking stop, both Kaylie and Darwin were completely out.

So both Kaylie and Darwin were completely out, Artie was still intact. He went over to Darwin, because he was the owner and he was the only person on the ship that the droid likes. Beeeep! Chirrrpppp! Beeppp! The droid would make loud sounds to wake the Jedi up, it was slow to open those eyes up though. Everything was kinda blurry. Artie was the first thing he saw, but he felt like everything was moving around him. His right hand would reach for Kaylie, thinking nothing of himself but wanting to make sure she's okay. However, before he could touch her, he passed out once again.

The crash must have impacted him more than he would like to.

Kaylie didn't know how long she was out of it, but when she opened her eyes, there was still smoke and steam coming off of the part of the ship that she could see from the front viewport. It could have been a while though, because she knew that they had come in pretty hot and that would singe for a while. She groaned a little and rubbed her eyes with her right hand, wincing as she felt a cut on her forehead that trailed over her brow bone and then continued down her cheek. Her eye seemed in tact. The bruising from the harness was already starting to be felt, though she knew that it would be much worse the next day. And even the day after that.

After a few moments, Kay reached up and fumbled with the release on the harness so that she could at least get out of the seat. Once she got it open, she tried to use both hands to pull herself up, but quickly found that the bones in her left arm and wrist appeared to be broken at least in part. "Artie?" She murmured as she finally got herself up and tried to steady since the ship had crashed at a bit of an angle. "Artie you need to get him awake." She said as she moved over and started to unfasten the harness that had held the Jedi into his seat.

Her gaze swept over Dar. There didn't appear to be too many major physical issues, not that she could see anyway. She wasn't a doctor, but they did have a complete medkid on board that she could use if the problem wasn't too bad. She already knew she would have to use it on herself if Darwin didn't wake up. The pain wasn't great yet, but that was probably from the adrenaline still running through her veins.

"How long have we been down, Artie?" He bleeped his response and she frowned. "I'll finish getting him to wake up, you go make sure that the landing ramp is secure. We don't want anything getting in this ship tonight....I don't think we'd be able to fight it off." She said as she tapped Dar's cheek lightly with her good hand and the droid rolled off. "Hey....wakey wakey sleeping beauty....lets get you out of this seat....I can't carry you so you're gonna hafta walk."

The Jedi is in a much better condition not because he's a Jedi, but because it happened to him before. It happened to him a couple of times during the Clone Wars when he was shot down by the Separatists. He slowly opened his eyes, and his vision was blurry at first. The veteran was completely unsure of what was going on at first, but a moment later, the memory came back. They had crash landed, yes that was it. It was Kaylie that had awoken him. That was when he was told to get off the ship by Kaylie, but Darwin was slow to get up.

His feet touched the cold, hard permacrete floor. He hasn't lift himself off the chair, though. His right hand reached the right side of his face, feeling the throbbing pain in his head. The Jedi hoped he didn't suffer a concussion, and that it was simply a headache. Even so, it was a hell of a headache. This was also the moment he felt a wet and warm feeling on his hand, leaving his face so he could take a look at his hand. It was blood, there was a nasty cut down the right cheek. Then he also noticed a few more nasty cuts on himself. The first one was on his left hand, the good hand. The other two he noticed was on the left knee and on the lower part of his right arm.

After that, he felt bruises on his ribs due to the belt that held him during the crash landing. He finally got up, limping a little bit due to the bad cut on his knee. "Let's go, Kay." He didn't really notice she was looking nasty as well, intent on getting out of the ship before something else happens inside it. Artie managed to get the landing ramp stay shut through the manual control that were in the hallway leading up to the ramp. That was when Artie shouted out a loud series of beeping and chirping. Darwin was able to relax little bit, for the moment.

Vendaxa wasn't a very well-known planet, but there were a story he heard during the Clone Wars. He heard that the Separatists capture creatures from this planet and use them as a means to execution. That was only in passing, but it sounded like the creatures were nasty. The Jedi shook that thought off his head for a moment, and fell down on the small seating right behind a game table. He was inside the main galley, figuring that Kaylie was going to take a med kit or something like that.

"The ship is secured and all the fires are out. I don't think we oughta go out and try and fend off this planet in the dark, Dar....we should stay here till morning." She said, just as a relatively level headed suggestion. "We don't know whats out there." Kaylie murmured as she went rummaging through cabinets for the med kit. "And neither of us are in any shape at the moment." She said as she dropped down next to the Jedi.

Her gaze went to him and she got some gauze out of the box and dabbed at the blood on his face. "Less creepy crawlies in the daylight I would think." She said as she started to work on fixing him up a little.

"Ow." The Jedi whispered softly, not wanting her to know it hurts. He grunted when he tries to sit up, using his right hand to push Kaylie's hand away. The Jedi was trying to appear proud, that he wasn't in as much pain as it seems. "No, No. I'm fine. We should work on you first. I've survived worse back then when I was fighting the Separatists." Being proud wasn't the only thing that kept him from admitting he was in pain. It was also Jedi's nature to worry about others, he loves her. For that reasons, he wanted her to work on herself first.

"As of staying here until the sun comes up, I'm with you."

"Oh stop being brave." She said as she cleaned the cut on his cheek and put a couple of smallish bandages to keep the gash closed. Kaylie had taken the time to put a brace from the medkit on her left arm, to keep it steady and not moving so it wouldn't hurt as much.

"Dar....I don't know that I can fix this without parts. And until morning, we won't really know how bad it truly is." She said as she fussed over him. It kept her busy. "And....maybe we should send out a distress signal." Her only worry was that a distress signal could bring anyone....including the Empire.

The Jedi would concede, allowing Kaylie to fix him up. He knew Kaylie was stubborn, so he wouldn't even try to argue with her. He wasn't in a condition to, anyway. Darwin looked at Kaylie, "No, not yet. We shouldn't send out a distress signal, at least not until we find out how bad of a shape the ship is in. That...and if we could find parts on this planet." Darwin let out a heavy sigh, wondering if it was about to get even worse once they get out of the ship in the morning. Then he cleared his throat before he would speak again, "Don't forget the cuts on my hand and arm."

"Or ya could help here..." She smirked as she pulled his sleeve up. "Just from looking at the inside, the ship is in bad shape. I don't know if there are any settlements on this rock or what, but if they have parts, I can fix it...but it's gonna take a while." Kaylie said as she cleaned up his arm and hand slowly. "And it's gonna go slow...my left arm is pretty messed up." She said. She hadn't moved it since she put the bracing on it, and it was just laying on her lap.

"What about that Jedi friend of yours? Nah...we'll just see what happens come daylight. You should maybe go lay down and get some rest till then."

He nodded lightly, "Agreed. I just think it's best to see if we can find any parts before deciding to take a risk by sending out a distress signal. I'm pretty sure we aren't going to fight well in this condition." The Jedi felt stinging pain in both his arm and hand, but didn't say anything about it. Darwin looked up at Kaylie, wondering about the Jedi he met a while ago. That's when he shook his head, "I doubt it. Shiva sent him on an important mission. I don't think he'll be coming to our rescue, at least not for a while."

Darwin tries to get up, slowly but he managed to do so. "Maybe you should too, let's go sleep together. I'll see what I can do about your left arm. I've had a very little training on Force Healing, and I haven't had to use it since the Clone Wars to avoid detection by the Inquisitors. I don't know if I'm able to heal your arm completely." His healthy hand would reach for Kaylie, offering her help in getting up.
