Maximov had barely gained entry into the foyer, barely shut the door with a soft click, when the Senator entered. With the Force cloaking him as it were, her eyes might slide past him, but he dropped the pretense as she moved towards the alarm. Here came the tricky part. After the almost-surety in Maximov's mind that the Inquisitor had visited the house, Thanatos was not likely to want another uninvited visitor. His presence here though, had to remain a secret and if she set the alarms or was close enough to try to set them off, he would have a devil of a time gaining the spaceport and escaping. Therefore, while it was not his preferred method, he had to use a bit of brute force.

Dropping the Force cloak, he reached out, meaning to tug her feet from under her and silence any cries with an invisible hand over her mouth while simultaneously moving forward with enough speed to catch her from her fall and replace the Force 'hand' with a physical one. If successful, he would whisper sharply into her ear:

"Keep silent and you'll not be harmed. You have information I need of the Inquisitorious."

Ilanah had barely lifted her hand to key in the code to activate the alarm on the windows and doors in the house when she fell. Her fall wasn't of her own volition, she could tell, but she was silenced before her scream was emitted from her mouth. It didn't feel real though, the fall and the hand silencing her, but within a moment there was a real hand covering her mouth. This day just kept getting better, she thought.

The Senator nodded in response, she didn't try and make another sound and she didn't try and struggle. The voice wasn't the same of the Inquisitor that had been, so that was at least of some comfort, but not much.

Removing his hand from Thanatos' mouth, he set her gently back on her feet before sliding back into the shadowed part of the foyer; a part that would keep him close enough to the alarm keypad that he could prevent her from racing towards it. Oh, this had so much potential to get ugly, which was not what he wanted or needed. The Senator wasn't likely the sort to give information if threatened. Perhaps he would not even need to reveal his 'bounty hunter' identity to her. He would however, take a few stabs and guesses at things and hope they led him in the right direction.

"You had a visitor earlier tonight, Senator. A... friend... of your husband's, I would say. I need to know what he wanted... and I need to know where your husband is now."

As he put her down, Ilanah took a step back. Unfortunately, she had dismissed both of the guards, and the maids would have been more of a burden than a help. The day just seemed to keep getting better and better. The Senator tried to calm herself down, idly smoothing her hair and her dress as the man slipped back into the shadows and then spoke to her.

He asked his questions and the Senator paused before she answered. "Who are you? Another Inquisitor?" She asked as she stepped closer, but only a bit, as she tried to see who she was talking to at least. "Do you need to search the estate too? Could you try and not throw everything around like the last one did? I just got it all picked up." She was trying to be calm, but inside, she was panicking.

The hood of the cloak; the way Maximov's head was turned and the shadows he stood in did much to conceal the majority of his face. His strong jaw and lower portion of his face could be seen more easily, but hardly enough to pull from a lineup. Maximov had undergone surgery to ensure his face could fit from any of a dozen worlds. He was truly a rather remarkable 'unremarkable' person.

"The Inquisitorious? No, no. I don't serve that sort. They and Palpatine are one side of a balance, and an impermanent one at that. As for searching... I came for you, Senator. The people I represent have a vested interest in your husband. I, however, have a vested interest in the man who was hear earlier. I recognize his unique taint. Can you tell me where your husband is?"

The Senator frowned a little as the man spoke to her. She listened quietly until he was finished and until he asked about Kal. "If you don't work for the Inquisitorious, who do you work for?" Ilanah had it in her head that she wasn't really going to answer his questions until she knew a little more. He was asking about her husband, after all, and she felt as though she had a right to know something.

"You can have the man who was here earlier, that is for sure. He was here asking about my husband as well...thinking our marriage is a sham and all." She blurted out, and afterwards she realized she maybe shouldn't have said anything about that. Ilanah shook her head. "Either way, I've already sent a message to Moff Brandt about him." She mentioned casually. The Moff, despite having no power on Chandrila, had lots of friends, and she felt better letting him know what had happened so that he could make sure that the matter was dealt with.

Her thoughts turned to Kal. She understood that he couldn't tell her where he was, and she knew that it was important to his job and her safety. Nevertheless, it bothered her that she didn't know where he was and that she wasn't certain he was safe. It had been a while since she had heard from him and for all she knew, he was dead. At least, that was what she was worried the Inquisitor was coming to tell her.

"What do you need him for?" She asked as she crossed her arms over her mid-section casually. "He's.....working...." That was really all she knew.

"I'd tell you who I work for, Senator, but I fear I'd have to kill you then." He offered a warm smile to take the sting out of his words, but he did not speak in jest. The less who knew o the GenoHaradan, the better. It irked Maximov enough that some Senators likely suspected. Indeed, there was a certain Senator Bavos he was going to have to pay a visit to for snooping too much. Alas, Maximov enjoyed the bounty hunter aspect better, but his skills at assassination were what made him valuable to the GenoHaradan more than anything.

"Moff Brandt? Another of the men who are impermanent. His name will be dust in the wind a thousand years from now, but the 'work' men like your husband do will live on. He is a killer, you know. Little more than an Imperial thug, imbued with the Force and all too-ready to turn on his former Jedi companions. I want your husband though, because if he is anything like your actions have shown you to be... perhaps he is not all lost, and perhaps those I serve will have a man inside the Inquisitorious, where we can help shift the balance back to where it should be."

Say his name and he will appear. True of a Stenax, perhaps, as far as children are concerned. But one wouldn't expect this to be the case of Rainier Brandt (especially not on Chandrila, so far outside his authority). Of course, he wasn't there himself, but the stormtroopers who now made a distinctly metallic knock on the door to the Senator's home were, to be sure, a result of Brandt's unseen hand. In that sense, his presence was certainly felt ("impermanent" though it was). For even if Brandt was unseen, there wasn't much that was unseen to him—especially not the Senator of Chandrila, whom Brandt had described on more than one occasion as "voluptuous." He was jealously protective of her, to the extent that he had arranged to have her apartment on Coruscant watched and, having received her transmission today about Inquisitor Animus, her home on Chandrila now, too. She didn't know about this, of course, but in this instance it paid off.

It was ironic that Brandt and Maximov, in a way, were in the same business. Well, for Maximov it was a business. For Brandt it was a hobby. There was another difference, too; Maximov's organization, GenoHaradan had spies everywhere resorting to drastic measures like these in order to acquire information. Brandt, instead, simply made friends. It was only a slight exaggeration to say that the end result was the same, in terms of which of them knew more about what. Brandt was a veritable one-man GenoHaradan. Another difference, of course, was what they did with the information; GenoHaradan used it as a commodity. Brandt did too, sometimes, but mostly he used it to serve his own interests. And it was because those interests were "impermanent" that Brandt valued them so highly—recreation, money, pleasures of the flesh. In other words, happiness. These were things that Maximov couldn't understand, and if Brandt knew a thing about the man he might even pity him.

He'd still have him shot, though. In the future, perhaps.

Tonight, the stormtroopers that Brandt had arranged to watch the Senator's home (Moff Caglio was quite happy to do a favor for a friend) called in reinforcements when they saw Maximov's dark form discreetly enter the front door. By the time the knock came at the door, there were 3 stormtroopers there. Another 2 were in the veranda watching the back door, and 2 more stormtroopers were watching the windows on either side of the house, 1 of them covering each side, respectively. They were all shocked that none of the Senator's guards appeared to be there. "Law enforcement, Senator," the stormtrooper at the door said in a distinct monotone, "Open the door."

Ilanah listened quietly as Dimitri spoke again, and when he said his last few words, she forced herself not to register shock at those words. What could he have possibly known about her actions to think anything such as that. "What do you mean...my actions?" She asked. And then there was Kal. What he had said about Kal being on the inside, for now, was true to only the Senator as well as Senator Fowlkes. But as far as anyone else thought, Kal was playing the part of loyal servant to the empire.

She suddenly felt...nervously uncomfortable, to say the least. Was this man truly and decidedly against the Empire? She couldn't be sure and it wasn't safe to even delve further. Besides, who could truly trust someone who had snuck into their home and scared the daylights out of them. The Senator opened her mouth to speak again, when there was a metallic rap on the door. Dimitri happened to be between her and the door, so instead she went for the alarm keypad which had a small screen attached that fed in from the security cameras.

It would likely surprise Dimitri that she did not hit the alarm button, instead activated the screen to see who was on the front porch. "Perfect...." Her gaze went to Dimitri for a moment before she backed away from the screen that was switching between cameras. The house seemed to be pretty well surrounded.

Maximov nearly cut her down when she started for the keypad; his reflexes honed to a razor's edge. His reflexes and his command of weapons were his life. Pleasures of the flesh, excess of money and food; all were things that held little meaning to him. Dimitri Maximov was a man who believed in duty; held to it like a drowning man to a branch or a rope. Killing was the only time he truly came alive, when the blades were bared and death the price of failure.

Maximov was surprised when she did not call for help; surprised indeed. Perhaps there was no need for anyone to die tonight. Deftly, Maximov's right hand slid to his left wrist and punched in a sequence of numbers on the reinforced wrist-mounted datapad there before leaning close to Ilanah. "I am Shiv Rennick, bounty hunter you have hired to keep you safe. You called me here tonight to chastise me for not protecting you from the Inquisitor. If the men outside find otherwise, I will have to remove them from my path. My cause is a higher calling than the lives of these Imperial servants, Senator."

Ilanah stared at Dimitri for a moment as he moved incredibly too close for comfort. Out of nervous habit, she bit her lower lip gently as she thought over her lack of good options. Surely he would run if she were to call him out to than se stormtroopers. But he would kill them. Either way, she was concerned for her own safety as well.

The Senator made a move for the door to answer it, without giving him an answer. He hadnt really asked her to do it, but made it more of an order.

She opened the door and looked to the white armoured stormtroopers on the porch. "Is something wrong?" She asked, appearing genuinely concerned.

Maximov's hands stayed away from the lightsabers still hidden at his waist; one hand feeling for the release that would drop a vibro-blade into his left palm. The right hand grasped the handle of the GRS-1 snare rifle, prepared to use it. It's wide angle firing pattern could easily take down the stormtroopers at the front door. For now though, he held silent, out of sight and hoping the Senator would cooperate.

"A man was seen entering your home a moment ago, Ma'am" the stormtrooper with the white pauldron on his shoulder said. One of the other stormtroopers was behind him, and one to the side—not within Maximov's immediate line of fire (unless his GRS-1 could shoot through walls, something that GRS-1's weren't known for). "There was a home invasion here earlier today," the stormtrooper explained, "and we need to be sure you're safe. Are you expecting anyone tonight? Have you seen anyone? Even if not, we'll need to look around. Someone is inside your home." The stormtroopers were typically-armed with E-11 blaster rifles, and some with DLT-19 heavy blaster rifles. They seemed ready to use them, if need be.

Ilanah gave Dimitri a sidelong glance from where he was standing (I am assuming) just out of sight, from her spot in front of the door before she looked back to the stormtroopers. "Yes there was but...." She paused a moment. "How did you...." The Senator cleared her throat and shook her head. "Everything is fine here, Sergeant...." Ilanah said as she stepped back from the door to allow them entrance to her house. Everyone else had stopped by to day, why not some stormtroopers too?

"There is someone here, Sergeant. I hired him on as additional security a few weeks back when I left Coruscant to travel a while. His arrival here was a little late, don't you think? I was just actually admonishing him for failing to perform his duties when that Inquisitor came by earlier. Probably off drinking in some bar....you know bounty hunters...unreliable." She sighed and smoothed her hands over the stomacher of her gown. "But please, feel free to look around if you like....just to settle your curiosity or whatnot." Ilanah smiled and moved further into the house, her gaze going to Dimitri for just a moment.
