| "Some sort of pepper spray would be so much easier..." She murmured as she tried again and squeezed the trigger. This time the weapon fired, and she missed the target completely, and yelped. Not because the weapon itself startled her, but she hadn't really thought about or expected the noise.
"Where the hell did I even hit?" She asked as she looked down at the target and saw nothing. "Maybe I shouldn't shut my eyes next time, huh?"

| Looking down and around the target, Stark peered at the distant wall. "I believe the wall is quite dead right now. My dear, keeping your eyes open is a central part to ensuring you strike your target. Don't anticipate the firing. It should come as a slight surprise every time, but keep to the fundamentals. You'll be able to hit any target as long as you follow those. I have faith in you, darling. Try again."

| Ana sighed some, looking to him for a moment before she tried again. "Darling, I might just not be cut out for this." She said, though she knew that like everything else it would take practice. And practice she did, until she at least hit the target, and not the poor wall. It wasn't a great shot on the target, but at least this time it hit it.

| "Nobody is ever cut out for it, my dear. It comes with practice and hard work." He examined the hit on the target. "Well, whoever your attacker was, you certainly managed to shoot them in the upper arm. That's a good start by all means. Now we just need to correct it, a bit, bring your aim a tad to the right and you'll be dead center. That's quite good for a first time shooter, you know."

| "I dont particularly want to kill anyone, Alyn. Just stopping and or slowing them down would be fine with me." She said as she lowered the weapon and laid it on the counter. She would, however, do anything to protect her unborn son, so she supposed that made this lesson worth it.
Instead of arguing, Ana tried again. Her aiming was horribly lax though.

| She rolled her eyes some, giving it another try. The shots were hitting the target now at least, though they weren't at all close to each other or remotely accurate. After several minutes of this, Ana stopped, and glanced over her shoulder to Alyn. "What am I doing wrong? Or am I doing ok?"

| "It just takes time, darling," Stark rubbed her back soothingly. "It's a good start for one day, and nobody gets perfect at shooting in one day, especially if they've never fired a blaster before. Just make sure you practice while I'm gone. Irlilia will help you. Gadrid could give you a few lessons in unarmed combat as well, if you like, or if you'd prefer to stick with just the blaster, then let him know."

| She laid the weapon down for the moment and turned to him. "You're leaving Gadrid here? Alyn, I'd rather you take him with you. It would make me feel better." She said softly, concerned. "Irlilia and I will be fine.....along with the how many billion castle guard you have here?" Ana was quite serious, and could dig her heels into this one if she wanted to. Though in the back of her mind, she knew that Alyn would do what he ultimately felt best to keep her safe.
Slowly, she slid her arms around his neck and pulled herself close. "Please at least think about it? For me?"

| "I'd rather leave Gadrid here to watch over you. Malinara will be with me, and she is a capable close-quarters guard. I am not without my own defensive tactics as well, love. As for the castle guard, there are only one-hundred," Stark added with a chuckle. "I will consider it, but odds are that Gadrid will remain with you. He is one of my best, and I would rather have the best watching you." Granted, Gadrid would still be one of the only Shadowguard who could likely kill Stark without Stark having a chance to defend himself. It was for that reason that Stark deemed Gadrid important enough to guard Ana.

| "I suppose he could have a pedicure." she said casually before she turned her attention back to the blaster and the target that she was supposed to be practicing on. "Perhaps a nice pink polish for his toes." Ana smiled some and picked the weapon back up and tried aiming again. It was getting better, but not perfect. Closer to the center of the target at least.

| Stark laughed and kissed the back of her neck as she practiced again. "I can only imagine the look on his face when you propose that to him." Watching her shoot, he wrapped his arms around her waist. "Very good. Much, much better darling. The more you practice, the better you'll get."

| Of course the touch of his lips on her skin distracted her enough that the next shot was dangerously off target. She put the weapon down, to be safe, when he wrapped his arms around her. "I am sure Irlilia will practice with me. Or help. Gadrid too, after his toenails are polished." Ana smiled some and rested her hands on his.
"I am never going to have to use this...." she said though, indicating to the weapon.

| He grinned as he distracted her from her focus, then turned to seriousness for a moment. "Irlilia will indeed practice with you. Gadrid, as I mentioned, is not as good with a blaster. He is far more close-quarters-combat than the others. As for never having to use it, I certainly hope you don't have to. I never want to see you have to use that. However, I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's the same thing I plan to teach our son when he is old enough."

| "You did say that. I had forgotten. I'm sorry,Alyn." she replied regarding Gadrid. She had quite forgotten what he did, and even though she insisted he go with Alyn on his trip, she would be glad to have him near, even though he would likely be sick to death of her before it was all over.
"When he is old enough will be quite a long time, Alyn. I want him to have a childhood and not worry about such seriousness. He needs to be able to laugh and play and.....you know. Not be an adult.". She would insist.
