It would be a harrowing two or three seconds for Mira, which might well have felt like two or three minutes as she was cast aside, her arms, legs, and weapons useless as the brown dirt, trees, and sky would seem to blend together. Harrowing, that is, until two arms would clasp her protectively from behind—one across her waist and the other across her chest, holding her tightly. A man's square chin would come to rest on her shoulder, prepared to use his own head and shoulder to prevent Mira from injuring her neck in the tumble that was sure to occur. The man was Jace Varitek, Jedi Knight, his eyes closed in concentration. He had leapt seemingly from nowhere to catch her in mid-flight, and for one moment the two spun about in the air almost gracefully before the Jedi landed deliberately with his feet planted in the dirt, using his boots and the Force to slow their momentum.

They came to a stop only a meter or so into the trees. Mira's white ensemble was ruined with dirt stains, but she was otherwise fine. Jace released her carefully, saying nothing as he leaned her against a tree, placed a hand reassuringly on her shoulder, and then walked calmly into the clearing in Jaden's direction, brushing the dirt from his pants as he went. He acknowledged his fellow Jedi Knight and friend with a weak nod. He looked tired—that little maneuver had taken most of his concentration and, he would later learn, had also fractured the fibula in his leg. It'd also caused him to abandon the same Force "cloaking" technique that Lethe had been using herself, and which he, too, had used to follow her.

Jace had been nearer to Krayiss Two than Jaden when he had received his friend's transmission, and he had arrived quite some time before he and Mira. He hadn't hurried into things, however. There was an ominous aura on this planet, and Jace, with seemingly infinite patience, had meditated in his X-wing in orbit for nearly two days before actually approaching the planet. It was worth the trouble, as it was from this exercise that he was able to distinguish one presence from the rest, like a grain of sand that shone more brightly than the others. And it was a familiar presence at that—Saia Avaray, although not the same Saia Avaray he'd known from the Jedi Academy a decade ago, before even Jaden's time there. There was something different about her that Jace could only describe as a new sort of certainty that she'd never had before. The only other thing he'd been able to discern from her was that her intentions were not good.

Under the circumstances, he wasn't about to drop in and say hello. Not until Jaden arrived, anyway. And so he'd used her technique to "conceal" himself. He wasn't good at the technique, mind you. His forte was perception. But perception is where Sith tended to be weakest, and this worked to his advantage. Still, he was grateful to be done with the deception. It was not his way. "Jaden," he called to his friend, "This is Saia, a former student. What brings you here, Saia? And what brings such violence on an innocent woman?" His voice was disapproving, but also dispassionate. His hands were on his hips as he glanced up at Lethe in the trees, making no movement for his weapons. For now.

All of sudden, he was taken by surprise. Mira was being lifted off the ground and headed for the forest area. Mira obviously didn't do it on her own. It was being done by someone dark, that much Jaden would figured out on his own. Once the attacker has been revealed, as she landed on the surface, every feature within Jaden began to change. Jaden's body language would begin to stiffen up. His eyebrows would tighten up, his eyes looking at the Sith like a X-wing fighter locking on a TIE fighter and ready to blast it. Within the moment, his sense of calmness vanquished. It was replaced with anger, a feeling that most Jedi would harbor toward. Even though he haven't been able to sense anger in a really long time, he believes that anger is alright as long as it can be channeled into an "extra energy" such as combating against worthy opponents. The Jedi Knight used the Force in order to pull the lightsaber off his belt and into his left hand, activating it right away. The blue glow came to life, the color of the Jedi Guardians. The color clearly indicate his resolves toward his opponents.

Jaden was ready to take on the Sith, with anger boiling inside him for what the Sith has done to his love interest. He took a step forward when someone else, very familiar, has appeared. It was his friend and the infamous Jedi, Jedi Knight Jace Varitek. He could hear his voice very clearly, The Jedi Knight would not respond back to Jace, although his body language would indicate that he was aware just as he could sense Jace's signature in the Force. Jaden was a student in the style of Djem So and Ataru. Most of the time while combating a single opponent, he had a tendency to use Djem So and so rarely Ataru. However, this might one of those times where someone else would get to witness his style in Ataru. Jaden had a tendency to use Ataru when he feels it was necessary. This is a time where he thinks it's completely necessary, although the anger might factor in that decision.

The Jedi Knight shot a glance at Jace before returning his locked stare toward the Sith, "Former being the key word. I have no doubt Saia has died sometime ago." He spoke with a tone that clearly express his anger, the Jedi Knight was referring to a new identity that the Sith must have taken. Jaden had decided he wasn't going to wait for Jace to attack together. "You're going to pay for this! I'm taking you on now!" The Jedi Knight shouted, building up enough Force to get himself leaping in the air. After a couple of rolls in the air, he would land on the ground in front of the Sith and ready to attack. His lightsaber was immediately swung toward the side where the Sith's lightsaber was at, no doubt it would be blocked. It could be the start of the ferocious combat.

Mira was caught quite off guard and immediately felt herself hurling backwards and unable to stop it. That was until she smacked into something hard, but rather soft. Human, she noticed, as he wrapped his arms around her and they landed almost gently (gently compared to the crash she would have had alone) on the ground just beneath the canopy of trees.

As he let her go, she looked up at him. "You have to be Jace." She murmured, though it was only a guess as to who he really was. But as she said it, he was already walking away. Mira stayed there for the moment to regain her composure. And she felt if she was near Jaden, she would be putting him in more danger than he was already in.

She gave a wolfish smile as Jaden made his move. In her mind, she was dissecting his movement, analyzing, and coming up with a plan of attack. Two options came up within her head as the most viable. The first was that she could make a very simple and quick move, and easily kill him right now. The second was to knock him away and drag things out...and toy with him. While the first option would be very satisfying, the second sounded much more fun. With that in mind, she went into action, blocking his blow away and quickly backflipping from him, keeping her blade in a defensive position the entire time to block any attack on her, and landed cleanly on her feet.

She turned to Jace, taking a moment to answer him. "The Jedi must not be allowed to violate this sacred ground..." she said, raising her blade into a defensive stance as she did so. She turned to Jaden and looked him up and down. "Such anger...good. Use it. Embrace it. Surely you can do better than this pathetic attempt worthy of only a child." she said to him, antagonizing him.

At another time in his life, Jace might have felt a flash of anger himself at Jaden's impulsive lunge at Saia. After all, he had hoped to stall the Sith with conversation long enough to muster his strength and his concentration once more, not to mention to find out what she was doing here, who had sent her, and why. But instead, Jaden had quite literally leapt without looking or, at least, without looking into the truth of things. Knowledge was a tool far more powerful than a lightsaber. Why it was that some Jedi said a lightsaber "is your life," Jace would never understand. A Jedi is more than his weapon. Jace didn't feel the need to reach for his as he watched Saia brush Jaden aside. He knew that she would—he could sense that she didn't mean to kill him. Not right away, at least.

The Jedi must not be allowed to violate this sacred ground. Jace considered those words. He happened to agree with Saia, from a certain point of view that was, surely, not the same as hers. Jace had no interest whatsoever in entering that Sith temple, and part of his motivation for coming to Krayiss II had been to discourage Jaden from doing so. What had motivated Jaden to come here, he wasn't sure. And neither was the Academy, when he had told them. But one thing was clear to Jace: if there was a Sith "spirit" occupying that building—he was doubtful of this—it couldn't harm anyone except those who ventured inside and disturbed it. Under the circumstances, venturing inside didn't strike Jace as the best idea. Better simply to call in the Republic and have them flatten the temple from orbit.

The Republic. Jace looked back in Mira's direction to make sure she was alright. Jaden had exposed his weakness to Saia, and that weakness, clearly, was Mira. If Saia was smart—and as Jace recalled, she was—she could threaten Mira again simply to rile Jaden even more, which, as her words revealed, was what she intended to do. Mira must have understood this too, because she remained where she was. As for Jaden, well. He was an intelligent adult who could make his own decisions, and who didn't need Jace to tell him what to do. Thus, he didn't rebut Saia's taunts; he didn't say "No Jaden, don't!" or "Don't give in to anger!" Jaden knew what was right and what was wrong, and Jace would be a bad friend if he didn't expect him to do what was right.

The benefit of the doubt. That's what friendship's all about. Jace's old friend, Eeshrin, had said that. Eeshrin had always been fond of rhymes. But this wasn't the time to reminisce. Jace rested one hand on his hip and, with his other, pressed his finger and thumb to the bridge of his nose. He closed his eyes as he surrendered his senses to the Force. The pain in his leg didn't go away, but it no longer hurt. It was something that he was simply aware of, as he was aware of Jaden's anger and Saia's amusement. The Force permitted him to experience these things from the perspective of the Force, or, if you will, the cosmos. It was an indifferent perspective that cared for nothing, and willed nothing. It was man who willed things, not the Force. And it was Jace who willed, through the Force, a sense of calm upon Jaden.

But as he did so, it was Saia who truly interested him. Jaden could take care of himself, after all. But Saia was full of turmoil, despite the assured demeanor she presented. The fact that she took such pleasure in "toying" with Jaden suggested a deep insecurity within her—the same insecurity he remembered from when she was in the Academy. Then, it had been a feeling that she didn't know who she was, and a deep fear of what she could become. It was still there now. Diminished though it was, it was there. He sensed it. The certainty he had sensed earlier, the certainty of the Sith teachings, was false. It was something that she didn't yet believe in. Not completely.

There was hope for her.

But redemption was not among his priorities at the moment. He wanted to make sure, first and foremost, that Jaden and Mira were safe. Hopefully, he had helped to calm Jaden's passions and allow him to see the situation more clearly and make up his own dispassionate mind. Jace opened his eyes and released a long, measured breath. Then he reached for his lightsaber.

The attack made by the Jedi Knight was clearly easy to be blocked away by the Sith. Jaden was caught off guard by the attack made on Mira, and haven't had time to process some thought. His anger wasn't just purely anger, it was more of an instinct out of his love for Mira. He didn't want to get rid of the Sith simply because the Sith are natural enemies of the Jedi. He wanted to get rid of her because he knew that as long as the Sith is around, Mira is endangered. The Jedi Knight was ready to press another attack toward the Sith, taking a step forward. He had his stare deadlocked at the Sith, and didn't pay attention to anything else. Jaden had the urge to exterminate his opponent immediately, and it was pretty strong.

He was ready to take another step in order to make a charge toward the Sith, but something stopped him. It was something that moved to surround him. It wasn't people or animals that surrounded him. It was in the form of energy, the Force seemed to be the culprit in this. The Force had a sense of calmness, no doubt it was Jace that implanted this upon the Jedi Knight. For the moment there, he felt like he was torn in half. A tug of war between calmness and anger was happening. Because of this, he was confused on what to do. His anger was clearly made out of primal instinct. Sometimes it can be too powerful for the Force to control due to primal instincts being so closely embedded within a living form. Fortunately, all this happened for only a moment.

Jaden could have easily brushed aside this, but due to the confusion for the moment, the Force was able to win over little bit. The Force that his friend had implanted wasn't able to subdue or got rid of the anger completely. Instead, it offered a safe alternative for the Jedi Knight. The Force was able to reduce his anger to the point where he would be able to step back and observe the opponent. The Force had helped him channel his anger, something that could safely be used in a duel. Jaden would decide that it was time to utilize the Djem So, but he wouldn't attack until his friend joins the fight. The purpose of Djem So is to overpower his opponents. Thus a coordinated attack on the Sith could give an advantage to his preferred style in Djem So. "No, if I give in to anger, I would sink to your level." It was half-intended to goad the Sith into attacking, but he was also speaking out of his beliefs. The Jedi had put himself into a defensive stance should the Sith wish to attack him before Jace joins in the fight to provide a coordinated attack.

She laughed at Jaden. "Sink to my level? Oh, my dear misguided Jedi...so proud in his Jedi ways and training...do you not realize you just struck at me in anger. You've violated the Jedi way. Your lightsaber is to be used in defense...never attack or aggression...oh, young one, you're already on your way!" she said, eerily cheery near the end. As she spoke, she had slowly walked to where she was now standing between the two Jedi and their companion, and the enterence. "Come on Jedi...fight me! One on one..." she said, in a seductive and begging manner, taking a defensive stance again.

She looked both of them down, and should they indeed attack her together, she had a plan already in her mind. Should Jaden bite at her invitation, she would merely have to react to him. She found it easier to plan against multiple opponents rather than one, as the more people you have working in a team in such a fight, the more limited they became...with, of course, a few exceptions.

Jace frowned as he ignited his lightsaber, reluctantly. The Jedi Knight furrowed his brow in thought as he considered his options. He felt from Jaden a sense of anticipation. Clearly, he was expecting Jace to join in the fight. But Jace knew his strengths and also his weaknesses, and coordinated, cooperative lightsaber combat was definitely one of his weaknesses. He had always been a defensive fighter—his stance and his style were intended to protect himself while rendering his opponents tired and vulnerable. He usually prevailed with this method, and he had no use for other methods, strategies, or techniques. As a result, he wouldn't be much good to Jaden in this fight. He could try, of course, and probably make a clumsy show of it and get in the way. But this could make the fight harder for Jaden, not easier.

Reluctant to step in, he considered what his alternatives with the Force might be as he stood, lightsaber in hand, remaining a few meters from the skirmish. Saia hadn't fooled him, however, with her attempt to place herself between them and Mira. Indeed, Jace had expected this, and with each step she took, he took another himself in a sort of strange, slow dance. Throughout it, he made certain that Saia was never any closer to Mira than he was. Now, Saia was faced with a dilemma of her own—she could stand facing Jaden, Jace, or Mira, but not all three. Not at once, as the three of them now formed the points of an obtuse triangle around her.

Saia was smart enough to realize this, Jace knew, and so he wondered what she might do in response. Or rather, what he would do in her position. The Jedi Knight spared a glance at Mira, then back to Saia. His left hand came to rest on the handle of his blaster pistol, still in its holster, as his right hand held the cobalt blade of his lightsaber at the ready. He planted one foot firmly on the ground, feeling the dirt grind beneath his boot as he prepared himself to sprint. If his instinct was correct, that is. He paid close attention to Saia's emotions with the Force, trying to sense her intentions through the perverse, sadomasochistic pleasure she seemed to derive from this encounter.

Jaden would sport a grin, staring at the Sith. Indeed, he had expected her to goad Jaden into direct confrontation. However, he was concerned for the safety of Mira. Her safety is the top priority of Jaden's, anything he could do to keep Saia away from Mira would heighten Jaden's comfort. But this isn't going to be easy to do, Jaden knew this. Every step Saia took toward the middle, every step would bring her little bit closer to Mira. It had angered him little bit, as seeing that he wasn't able to get in the way without the Sith using this as an advantage. The Jedi Knight had tried to calculate her movements, as the Sith got herself in between both Jedi and Mira. Jaden had noticed that it would form a triangle around the Sith, not a perfect triangle though. Instead of letting his anger get the best of him, he would channel that anger as an "extra energy." It was a risky move, as this only applies to lightsaber duelists that uses the Vaapad form. There was two only known successful Vaapad duelists in the past. To make matters worse, Jaden is not a Vaapad user.

However, an important asset remains. Jaden's preferred form in Djem So specializes in overpowering opponents through the physical strength and the Force to feed that strength. In this particular case, it is possible for Djem So users to employ such emotion in defeating their opponents. Things got even better once Jaden had recognized that Jace was moving bit by bit in order to be able to defend Mira should the Sith decide to attack her. In his right hand, the available hand, was building up the Force in preparation of an attack. His grin got little bigger, turning into a devilish smile. Jaden had expected Jace to join the fight, yes, but Jaden also knew Jace to be purely a defensive fighter. He wasn't sure how much of a help Jace would be in subduing the Sith, but the Jedi Knight had an idea. His friend is already protecting his love interest. That would enable Jaden to focus more on Saia. "You're a coward, attacking the nice lady instead of us Jedi." The Jedi would use the building up Force energy that was in the palms of his right hand, and launched the Force toward Saia. The attack itself wasn't strong enough to knock her out, but merely enough to get her attention. "You want to fight me, come over here little kitten."

She smiled a similar smile back to Jaden as he looked at her. "Even kittens have claws, young one..." she said to him, looking at him and then at Jace a couple of time. They were setting up a two-person attack, but she knew Jace. The two had talked several times when she was in the Jedi Order, an outcast would always find comfort in another outcast...and Jace fit the bill then, and should she know him, he did now as well. His unique fighting style in fact inspired her to form her own unique fighting style, however rather than using a blaster as an unexpected weapon, she tended to use knives, although a blaster was always an option as well...and rather than being defensive, she was offensive with it. Jace and Saia formed a bit of a Yin and Yang in complementing each other...were she a Jedi, they would make a great team. However, things had not gone that direction, and it was only something that could have been. Although she may not seem like it to Jace, she was committed to her path now. One aspect of her in the past however, was that others seemed to know her better than she knew herself, so maybe, Jace had something in his line of thought, but she wouldn't show it. She wasn't Saia after all, she was a new person, Darth Lethe.

As she thought upon the various actions she could undertake against the two, she backed up slightly, towards the Temple. She could go after Jaden, who would be interesting. He was a wildcard, skirting the edge of the Dark Side. With an aggressive fighting style, and using the Vaapad technique with no training in it left him even more vulnurable to the Dark Side's pull...all it would take was a gentle push. She could use a blunt push, by killing Mira, but this wasn't what her master taught her. She was more cerebral than that...more of a true Sith, not these Dark Jedi wannabes that roamed the galaxy with delusions of grandeur and foolishly revealing themselves openly the Republic or integrating themselves into mainstream society. No...she was an agent of the shadows. She could move and attack Jace, attempting to eliminate the more experienced of the Jedi and thus dealing with the more difficult of the two prospective fights. However, without dealing with Jaden first, it left the wildcard in play while dealing with Jace's style at the same time...a situation she was uneasy about being in. It left Jaden being the obvious option.

She proceeded with a Force jump of her own over to her right side, leaving Jaden between herself and Jace. She let out a playful laugh filled with an unnatural glee. "Come one Jedi...I'm here...let's play." she said to him, giving an air kiss towards him and an wry smile.

Indeed, with no training in Vaapad would leave him vulnerable to the dark side. There were no known Vaapad masters in the galaxy around this time, and only two have been able to succeed in the entire history of the Jedi Order. However, Jaden wasn't intent on using Vaapad as it would leave him vulnerable to this young and pretty Sith. He had chosen to employ his preferred fighting style, Djem So. It is indeed an aggressive fighting style, and in this circumstance, it could also push him to the edges of the dark side. As the Sith might have sensed, Jace's attempt to calm Jaden down with the Force would most likely only stall the Jedi Knight's anger due to the fact that the anger did not disappear completely. The Jedi Knight would chuckle lightly, staring toward the Sith. Jaden had chosen to flirt with the dark side. It was a risky move, but one that he had chosen to taken. She had played dirty by attacking Mira, so Jaden decided to do the same thing.

He swung his lightsaber on the left side once before he began to walk slowly, circling to her side. However, he didn't get closer or further from the Sith. "Yes, kitty. Let's play." The Jedi had locked his eyes on the Sith, watching her every move due to her abilities to jump around a lot with the aid of the Force. To describe her in one word, dodgy. "But before we play, let me ask you something. Were you too much of a coward to stay as a Jedi? Did the Jedi do something so awful that you chose to leave, like short sheeting your bed or cheating at sabacc? Perhaps they went as far as pouring you a bucket of a very cold water. I can see how difficult it would be to remain loyal to the Jedi, when such acts has been committed against you." Indeed, Jaden was flirting with the dark side. He was mocking the Sith in the styles not that of a Jedi Knight. "Cowards are weak." That was the moment his eyes locked into hers, and the moment his devilish smile has appeared. Jaden relentlessly mocked and taunted her. He has kept his lightsaber really close, should the Sith sprint over to attack the Jedi Knight with a flirtation of the dark side.

Jaden was playing a dangerous game, although Jace understood why—he wanted to entice Saia to go on the offensive, knowing that he and Jace would be in a better position to exploit her vulnerabilities if and when she did. So far, however, she was more cunning than that. Or indeed, as Jaden suggested, more cowardly. Whatever the reason, she seemed reluctant to attack. Jace found it difficult to read her intentions, but he half sensed and, perhaps, half intuited that Mira was still on the Sith's mind. Jaden was dangerously near to the Dark Side, and Mira was still the button that could set him off. This much was apparent from the turmoil within Jaden's emotions that Jace's calming effect a moment ago had only stalled, not stopped. Either way, Mira was a liability.

Jace glanced in her direction, then to Jaden and Saia, then back to Mira. He needed to help Jaden, but he was reluctant to leave Mira undefended. He had an idea. "Mira," he called out to her, noting that it was rather unchivalrous of him to use her first name (but not dwelling on it), "Can you move? If so, can you go get the ship?" Of course, having the ship here wouldn't do them too much good, and moreover, it would take time for Mira to go back in the direction she'd come to retrieve it. But that was the point—it was time that she would be safely out of this fight. And who knows, the ship could be useful.

The Jedi Knight didn't wait long for her reply, however. His left hand remained on the handle of his pistol, and his right hand continued to hold his lightsaber loosely in his grasp as he began to walk toward Jaden and Saia, who were now some meters away from him. He took his time, closing his eyes as he did so and again surrendering himself to the Force. The Force "saw" for him, and indeed, "saw" things that his eyes could not; like the limits of Jaden's self control, and the sadist glee that Saia continued to exhibit in earnest. It occurred to Jace that this could simply be the glee of one who probes the weaknesses of others so as to never probe, or know, one's own. In any case, he may have been wrong on his initial reading of her—it could well be that she was was more Darth Lethe now than Saia Avaray.

Later, he admonished himself. First, he had a fight to win. Jace's philosophy of combat was based on a simple premise; an aggressive opponent is, necessarily, a vulnerable opponent. Thus, he could relate to Jaden's strategy of baiting Lethe. He stepped slowly nearer, his eyes closed, his hands holding his weapons not as mere weapons, but as extensions of himself. And he waited, for now. If Lethe didn't make a move in these next, crucial moments, he would.

It was rather misguided to shout out one's plans, especially when facing her. She could very quickly work on turning it upon themselves. It was something she enjoyed doing, and was part of her game she liked to play with her victims. She kept her smile and felt her body surge as Jaden talked. "Oh, poor young Jedi... it is unfortunate that the Order's academics are rather faltering. You, are the coward, child... hiding behind the Code, not willing to do what must be done... not willing to even defend the one you supposedly love, unless talking my ear off is your idea of a defense. You won't even fight me before whimpering for help from another Jedi... pathetic..." she said. She then did a backflip, which was accelerated with Force Jump, leading her to be closer to the Temple-Library, standing now almost within its enterance. "Come on... Jedi, if that's what you think you really are but at this point I'm having doubts... prove your worth... fight me, on your own... let's really play... or are you a coward? Are you weak? Do you really love the young and beautiful Mira? Prove it!" she said, giving out a gleeful laugh.

Mira lingered there and watched for several moments as she caught her breath and tried to keep herself from shaking and having a full out breakdown. She was close, and that was not like her at all.

When Jace spoke to her, Mira met his gaze and nodded. "Yeah....ship....I'll go." She murmured before she took one last glance at Jaden, hearing the Sith's words, before she dissapeared into the woods and headed back towards the ship.

Jaden would continue to stare at the young Sith, sporting an evil chuckle. "I'm older than you and trust me, I will not hesitate to kill you." His demeanor would change, showing an expression of hatred on his face. This Sith was pushing Jaden toward the dark side, and he knew it. The Jedi Knight didn't care about that, he cared about keeping Mira out of the harm's way. He was building the Force up inside him, when he saw Lethe doing a backflip which was accelerated by the Force. It landed her in between the Temple's enterance and both of the Jedi. "I am not a coward. You will not touch Mira again." His tone was rather demeaning, which might not bother the Sith but it might bother his friend, Jace. If his friend wanted any chance of saving the Sith, he would have to get to her before Jaden does. Jaden was already starting down the path of the dark side, but if he strikes Lethe, it may change his destiny forever.

"Let's really play, kitty." Jaden finally build up the Force, enough to send him over. The Jedi Knight would jump, then he used the Force to accelerate his jump. Jaden did a couple of flips in the air, before landing in behind Lethe. The Jedi was standing in between the Temple enterance, battle ready to utilize his Djem So form. He was ready to relentlessly strike at the Sith, swinging toward Lethe's left shoulder. His mission was to relentlessly press his attack in order to exhaust her defense and break through for the kill.
