| There had been a brief period of time when Ana had thought about just walking away. The problem was that she didn't want to, but she also wanted what was best for him. She knew he felt that she was what was best, but it seemed that he had done just fine before her, and she had no doubt that the ladies were all over him as well.
Then there was the question of where she would go. Giving up everything that one had ever known for a person made things like that difficult. She certainly couldn't go home to Naboo. And Imperial Center was out of the question. What it all boiled down to was that she was where she wanted to be. Home is where the heart is, and her heart belonged fully and completely to Alyn Stark.
"I guess you're right. I wish I could be more like you and not care what others think, but I just worry that I'm going to totally destroy your world that you worked so hard for. Don't think Jendos didn't tell me how you had to work to build this life." She said, her tone still quite serious.
He was right about her not being the type to sleep around. In fact, she never had even dated much. Young men were stupid and only thought of one thing most of the time, and she wasn't that kind of girl. "Are you positive about that?" Ana asked, finally trying to lighten up some, though the hurt feeling was still lingering.

| Contrary to Ana's belief, Stark never believed in someone leaving his life because they thought it was in his best interests. Being a grown man, he'd always been capable of making such decisions for himself. Before Ana, the only woman who'd been even close to him was Malinara. But Ana's feelings were quite important to Stark; largely the reason he acted so strongly to shield her from the cruelty the galaxy could thoughtlessly inflict with a few printed words, so to speak.
"Oh, I care to an extent about what certain people think, but by and large, those who are insulting our wedding are people who are not worthy of being thought about. The noblewoman from Brentaal? Please. I've never even met her. Who is she to comment on what I choose to do? The last I checked, the Empire didn't care who people married, provided nobody was inciting rebellion or cheating the system.
"You won't destroy my life, Ana. I have worked hard to solidify it and it will take more than a few fools to topple what I have built. As for our son? I am quite positive. You never struck me as the type to run around; you're far more sensible than that, my love."

| Sensible. That would have been a very good word to describe her at times, but right now emotional and irrational were better suited. It wasn't Stark's fault, but her own for worrying over something so trivial. He was right. A noble that neither of them had ever met, who was from a completely separate planet, and who knew nothing about either of them; especially nothing about Ana.
"I am sorry...." Ana finally said after a long bout of silence. "Do you ever regret getting in that speeder with me that afternoon on Coruscant?" She asked, though the answer was fairly certain. The reassurance would just be nice.

| He chuckled and shook his head at her comment. "Well, my stomach regretted the drive, but I have certainly never thought twice about it. I'd do it all over again just the same, Ana. You need never concern yourself that I would ever think back again on that day and not see it in a fond light. All of this will blow over in a few months and the galaxy will be back to worrying about raiders and Separatists and taxes and all manner of largely more important things than our wedding."

| She gave him an absolutely shocked look, followed by one of hurt and confusion. "There is nothing more important than the Stark-Riley wedding. Are you kidding? It's the most shameful social event of the season." Ana nearly cracked a smile as she forced the joke, which mocked Lady Estella from Brentaal.
"Didn't you know that shotgun weddings are the best way to go about it anyway?" She finally turned onto her side and propped herself up with her arm to face him.
"Seriously though, I don't want anyone else. Just.....don't let me read the news until its over. Not that the girls wouldn't spill the beans....so I guess it doesn't matter."

| "Fair enough, no more news for you." He chuckled and shook his head, turning to face her across their bed. "Nobility is over-rated in some cases anyway. Bloodline doesn't give people the brains to rule. Good teaching and upbringing does. Fortunately, Jendos Merced is a smart man and he won't be boycotting our wedding. Our friends and the people who care about us will be there and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. We will be happily wed and then I can depart the senatorial arena for a better life with you and our son."

| Ana gave him a genuine smile. "You won't be gone long, will you?" She asked, finally calming down enough to return to normal. She hated feeling like that and moreover, she hated him seeing her unhinged. Not only that, getting upast was bad for their unborn child. "I could come, if you wanted." She offered.

| "It shouldn't be too long, my love. You're welcome to come, of course, if you feel up to the travel. I know you're not fond of Imperial Center. If nothing else, there are comfortable quarters aboard Stark's Pride," he referenced his company skyhook here. "Just a few last ends to tie up in the Senate. Under a week, I imagine."

| "Coruscant is.....would be a little much, I fear. My last trip there started out amazing and then ended rather badly. Though the majority of the trip was rather wonderful." She said as she referred to them meeting quite by accident. "I would t want to intrude. There is a great deal that needs done here. Including my dress, which she has been fretting over for days.
I was glad for the outing today though. I was starting to feel a little cooped up and that is not something I am used to." Ana pulled herself from their bed then and pulled her soft cotton robe over her shoulders before she retrieved a small parcel from her dresser drawer and wen back over to him. "I was going to wait to give this to you later, but you should have some small distraction when you're traveling."

| "Then by all means, love, stay here and I will make sure you are well cared for." He smiled fondly as he thought back on their first meeting. She was right though; there was still much to be done on Lorrd and by and large, she'd likely avoid the issues and bad news that may fly her way if she came with him to Imperial Center. "Certainly can't forget about the dress, after all.
"You're more than free to travel about, love. Lorrd is, by and large, a safe world. The Kinyov Province is the safest place of all on the planet, I daresay, with Lorrd City being a close second." He accepted the package from her with a smile, moving to open it. "You didn't have to get anything special, darling... but thank you."

| "It will be special to you as it was to me and will maybe help your time go faster so that you can return home." She said as she said back down next to him. As she was a little cold, she pulled the blanket up onto her lap and watched him. Under the unassuming paper, there was an actual book, one of poetry, a book she had owned at one point. The boxes of her things were around somewhere, and certainly her copy was in there.
"Gadrid helped with the idea....."

| Stark was unable to keep an expression of delight off his face as he unwrapped the gift. "Ana! This is truly a treasure. Old books, especially books of human poetry, are hard to come by these days. Thank you, my love. This is truly a beautiful gift." He used his free arm to reach out and pull her close for a hug. "I take it Gadrid told you about my love of actual books; such a rarity in this high-technology world we live in."

| She loved it when he held her, so sh stayed as close as he would let her for however long he allowed it. "He did, and I have a whole box of them somewhere in your castle, that I would be happy to add to your collection....if I had any idea where the boxes were stored." She said. "I hope you don't mind, it's part of the reason I wanted to borrow him this morning." She explained.
Ana rested her head on his shoulder and then flipped a couple of pages. She had already taken the time to mark some of her favorites for him.

| He browsed through the poems she had marked, falling silent for a time as he read through them, devoting the time to them that they deserved. When at last he paused, he looked over at her. "You chose well in speaking to Gadrid, and all of the boxes that you brought with you were moved into one of the guest chambers for storage. It's three levels down and I can have the items you request brought here, if you like."

| Ana shook her head and turned another page. "I can do it myself. I'll find the box and bring it up when you're gone. It will give me something to do." He might object, but she was going to do what she wanted to, and he would likely know that. "Where do you want the books? Here....or is there a library somewhere in this place that I missed?" Ana asked as she finally sat up and gave him his space.
